Crepeville first opened its doors in downtown Davis, California in 2002, shortly before I graduated from Davis Senior High School and left for my freshman year of college in Texas. I didn’t get many chances to try the restaurant in those few short months, and would not grow to appreciate it until many years later. In that time, my love of brunch grew tenfold, causing Crepeville to emerge as one of my favorite Davis restaurants.
What do I love so much about Crepeville? For starters, the food! As the name suggests, there are delicious crepes, but many other tasty options as well. I’m a huge fan of the scrambles and Benedicts: the country scramble and Canadian Benedict are two of my favorites. Crepeville also offers an assortment of dessert crepes containing a variety of fruits, chocolates, and cinnamon sugar! The menu is rounded out with sandwiches, soups, salads, and even pasta. And did I mention the impressive selection of Italian soda flavors?
Most of their brunch dishes are served with a side of roasted potatoes, which are by far my favorite food item at the restaurant. They are freaking awesome. When you order your meal at the counter, the employee will ask you to choose between these and a side salad, and you should order the potatoes without hesitation. You must trust me on this.
Besides the great food, the location is lovely. The restaurant interior has high ceilings and plenty of windows that let in natural light. There is a big outdoor patio with views of Davis’ Central Park across the street. The patio is an excellent place to people watch, study, or visit with friends over a delicious meal. I love enjoying an outdoor brunch, which is made especially pleasant with the added bonus of free coffee refills and wifi!
Next time you’re in Davis and craving a delicious brunch at any time of day, be sure to make a stop at Crepeville!
