Yesterday I completed the Disneyland Half Marathon for the second year in a row. It was a good ten degrees hotter this year than last, plus a huge boost in humidity making it feel like it was 15 to 20 degrees hotter. As a result, this race was a lot more difficult for me physically. I was hoping to improve my time over last year, but instead I finished about 8 minutes slower this year. Considering the massive heat increase, I still feel pretty darn accomplished. I finished well within the minimum pace and I got a hi-five from Mickey Mouse himself!
I’ve already signed up for my next event — the Tinkerbell Half Marathon in January. After about a week of rest, I’m going to ease back into training for that. My goal is to be able to finish next years’ Disneyland Half under three hours, so I’m going to train to hit about that goal with the Tinkerbell Half. Wish me luck!
This week, however, is all about getting some much needed R&R. The heat really did a number on my feet and legs yesterday, so I’ve spent the day eating lots of protein and resting. Tomorrow I’m back to work — hopefully it’ll be an easy week.
