Happy New Year, and welcome to the all-new Quiet Girl in a Noisy City!
Did you all have a pleasant holiday? I had a wonderful time with family and enjoyed quite a few relaxing days at home. Now I’m feeling refreshed and ready for what 2015 has in store.
First things first – a fresh new blog design!
Thank you so much to everyone who filled out my reader survey. I can’t even express how much I appreciate your input. I agreed with many of your comments and took them to heart while working on the new design.
According to your answers, your favorite features of my blog are the photography and travel related posts. Those are my favorites, too! I’ve widened the main content column to better showcase my photographs, and I’m planning to feature more photo-centric posts about my adventures. I’ll also continue to share stories about my past travel experiences, though in a more specific, shorter format. I’ve got a few future trips planned, too!
Because I’m based in Los Angeles, I do plan to continue exploring and writing about my experiences here. However, I’m going to try a few changes so that my L.A.-based posts are a bit friendlier to those of you reading from elsewhere.
Many of you expressed a desire to see more posts here at QGNC, so I’m also updating my posting schedule to four days per week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday). I’ll try to post a nice variety each week. My post topic calendar for January is already nearly full! I’ve also got a few new features planned that I think you will all enjoy. I’ve also added email sign-ups, which will allow you to receive my posts directly in your inbox! You can sign up by using the form in the footer of each page.
As for the rest of the updates, I fixed a lot of things on the back-end that will help my site run smoothly and make it easier to search for. I’ve switched from Blogger to WordPress, which I already highly prefer. I’ve been working on improving my SEO and cleaning up a lot of little issues.
I’m still tweaking a few things here and there, so please let me know if you run into any major issues or if you have any specific thoughts about the design. If you look back at any older posts, you’ll likely notice a few low-resolution graphics and images. I’m slowly going through and replacing the older images to fit in with the new layout.
I hope you enjoy the new site! I can’t wait to keep adventuring with you all in 2015.
