Fuming mum defends dressing her kids in cheap clothes after she was mum shamed for wearing pricey outfits

A MUM has hit back at fellow parents who shamed her for “dressing up” while her kids wear cheap clothes.

Caitlin Fladager, 26, from Vancouver, Canada, is well known for her strong opinions having previously admitted to smoking weed while her children are awake.

Taking to Facebook, the mum-of-two defended her decision to dress her children in cheaper clothes after being criticised by a fellow mum.

She wrote: “Yes, my kids clothes mostly come from Walmart, while I buy myself clothes from other stores.

“You know why? Because I am not constantly outgrowing them, like my kids are.

“I am not constantly spilling food and dirt all over my brand new clothes.

“I am not outside running around in the dirt for hours on end.

“I am not tripping and ripping holes in brand new clothes.

“I am not changing my mind daily about what colour I have randomly decided I don’t want to wear ever again. I am not a kid.”

Caitlin went on to say: “My children are messy, they love to play in the dirt, and they love to spill their food.

“I buy them cheaper clothes, because I refuse to be the mom who yells at them for spilling a drop of ice cream on a brand new shirt.

“I strive to be the mom who sees them spill, and says “oh no big deal!”

“I strive to be the mom who sees them playing in the dirt, not caring that they are ruining a brand new outfit.

“I strive to be the mom who teaches them there is more to life than having nice, expensive clothes.”

She explained that her two children are far happier wearing cheaper clothes and being able to “spill” and does not feel bad about buying them clothes from Walmart.

She posted a photo of her children wearing their latest Walmart wears, while simultaneously dripping ice cream down their fronts.

She added: “When I look at this picture, it reminds me why I do that.

“The dirt, the smiles, and the ice cream makes me way more happier than a photo of them dressed in clothes they hate, that they will outgrow in a week.”

Caitlin is known for being outspoken.

Earlier this year she claimed that smoking weed was getting her through isolation with her kids.

Opening up about her nightly drug use in the caption, Caitlin wrote: "I wanted to take this time to talk about something that has helped me through this whole situation we are all going through. And that’s marijuana."

Explaining how she's seen lots of Instagram posts about "moms chugging bottles of wine" to cope with the coronavirus crisis, Caitlin added: "As soon as I mention I use marijuana to calm myself down after the kids are in bed, I still get those comments and DMs."

The mum-of-two – who has been open about her mental health struggles online – explained how she's been smoking marijuana for the past two years to help with her anxiety and only does it when her children are in bed in the evenings.

In other parenting news, this mum revealed that she saves McDonald's boxes so she can give her son homemade takeaways.
