A CREATIVE mum made a stunning fireplace for just over a tenner after her worried daughter thought Santa wouldn't get in without one.
Heather Jenkinson, 34, is so impressed with the results she plans to keep the fake feature in place it all year round.
She used nothing but five cardboard boxes, some glue and a bit of paint to create the gorgeous cream fireplace and now her five-year-old daughter, Eva, can sleep easy on Christmas Eve and even has somewhere to hang her stocking.
The thrifty single-mum spent around two weeks on the fireplace and simply drew around her phone before cutting out the shapes to create over 50 single bricks for a more realistic finish.
Heather, who is studying IT, spent £5 on emulsion for the brickwork and £8 on spray paint for the mantlepiece.
She even added a garland for decoration – using a swimming noodle wrapped in tinsel and decorated with baubles, pine cones and flowers from her Christmas tree.
Now Heather, from Oldham in Manchester, is so impressed with the results she plans to keep the fireplace all year round.
She said: "As Eva is five now, this year she had been into Christmas more and asking about how Santa was going to get into our house.
"The previous years we have had a magic key that we hung outside the front door however, when I went to get it I couldn't find it so Eva began to get upset and was wondering how Santa would get in.
"Seeing her upset I decided to try and make a fireplace for her.
"I had some boxes in the attic and sourced some from a friends workplace and set about making one.
"I had no clue where to start but I had a picture in my head of how I wanted it to be.
"It took me approximately two weeks on and off, sticking and painting in between childcare duties.

"The brick work was the hardest part, I drew around my phone onto cardboard and repeated this until I had around 50 bricks.
"Eva was really excited and happy when she saw it finished and was jumping around the room.
"Seeing her face so happy was magical and made it all worth while.
"It will always be a Christmas to remember now when mummy made a fireplace for Santa.
"I wasn't planning on keeping it up all year however, I am so happy with how it turned out and feel it gives the front room a more cosy feel so I will be keeping it up all year now."
