Calvin Harris just proved that you never really know what’s going on between the scenes.
Case in point: the EDM site Dancing Astronaut featured an old clip of the DJ on their Twitter page. “Can’t compare to the energy during @CalvinHarris’ sets in 2014,” wrote the outlet. “He went off at EDC that summer”.
Harris then retweeted the post with his own memory of the event. He shared:
“Interesting year for me 2014, started with me knocking myself off number 1 in the UK and ended with my heart getting restarted in the ER…this sort of stuff happened in between”
Back in November of that year, the Scottish artist was forced to cancel several performances, including for the MTV EMAs, due to heart problems. He later confirmed that he had arrhythmia, a heart condition characterized by irregular heartbeat.
In 2018, he opened up about his sobriety in a Twitter Q&A, writing:
“The last thing I want to do is down 2 bottles of Jack Daniels a night, live on Greggs pasties and sleep on an absolutely stinking bus all year, scream down a mic for 55 minutes and pretend to play a keyboard 5x a week those days are behind me son”
He later added: “Aye things are a bit less fun but haven’t had an arrhythmia since 2014”.
Though the 36-year-old seems to have dealt with his heart problems behind closed doors, it isn’t the only health scare he faced in the public eye. You may recall that frightening car crash back in 2016 right at the end of the Tayvin era. At the time, Harris was forced to cancel shows because of his injuries. (And then-girlfriend Taylor Swift may or may not have been super helpful in the recovery process, not that she probably owed anything in that regard.)
Then there was the second car crash in 2018 with girlfriend Araika Wolf. Calvin seemed to walk away from that one relatively unscathed, although two young women were injured by the collision.

Luckily, the One Kiss artist seems to be in good health now — which is something to hold on to, considering there’s a worldwide pandemic going on! Instead of playing sold out shows, Harris is quarantined like the rest of us, peacefully growing tomatoes.
He also seems to be in good spirits. The artist example responded to his reminiscing with the joke, “Heart attack from too many number ones ??”, which the DJ clearly got a kick out of.
Good to see he takes it all with levity! We’re wishing Calvin continued good health in the future!
