Friends star Courteney Cox has revealed the secret hurt that she has been carrying as the only key cast member not to get an Emmy nomination.
Courteney, who played Monica Gellar in the 10-series show, was the only one of the six main cast members not to get a nomination during their time as superstars of the sitcom world, although only Jennifer Aniston and Lisa Kudrow actually won.
And while the show's cast talked in their recent reunion about how much they were always there to support each other, Courteney admitted that while she was pleased for her friends, it stung not to get the same recognition.
Talking to Howard Stern for Sirius XM alongside Jennifer and Lisa, she said: "It always hurt my feelings.
"When every single cast member was nominated but me, it definitely hurt my feelings. I was happy for everybody, and then when it was finally like, 'Oh, I’m the only one?' It hurt."
However, Courteney did get her time in the limelight after the show ended, as the star of sitcom Cougar Town.
She was nominated for a Golden Globe in 2010 for best actress in a TV series comedy or musical, and although she didn't win, she said the nod meant everything to her.
Courteney explained: "The only thing that made me feel good — because they’ve all won and they’ve gotten so many accolades — I got nominated for Cougar Town the first year — a Golden Globe. And I want to say, 'Oh, who cares?' It meant everything to me."
She went on: "I wanted my peers to respect me and I know that the Golden Globes is not your peers, necessarily, but it’s like, Ah! It took a little of the sting out."
But reassuring Friends fans that the cast really are a close-knit group in real life, Courteney stressed that she couldn't have been happier for her co-stars' successes.
She said: "I want them to win, I just also want to be part of it. I’ve never wanted to take anything away from anyone.
"I just sometimes want to be included in certain things and these girls on the show and the guys, everyone deserved every one."
"I’m in awe of both of your talent," she told Jennifer and Lisa.
