Dan Walker, 44, has quipped that he and his co-star Louise Minchin, 53, went through a “marital tiff” behind-the-scenes this morning. It comes after the former Football Focus host issued an apology on air yesterday on BBC Breakfast after baffling viewers when he referred to Louise as “Louise Walker”.
Dan, who is married to wife Sarah Walker, said: “Good morning, welcome to Breakfast with Louise Walker… Louise Walker?
Backtracking after spotting his error, Dan chimed: “Sorry, Louise Minchin, apologies, and Dan Walker.”
Louise, who is also married, to husband David Minchin, chuckled and admitted: “I just don’t know what to say!”
The error led some viewers to question whether the presenting duo are married.
The BBC host continued to reference his awkward slip of the tongue on Twitter today when Louise called him out for “turning his back” on her in the studio.
Louise took to the social media platform to share a selfie featuring Dan in the background, who was facing away from her.
She jokingly wrote to her 207,000 followers alongside the snap: “Good morning, better late than never and @mrdanwalker has turned has back on me today!!”(sic)
Unable to resist teasing Louise over his previous mishap, Dan replied in view of his 711,000 followers: “We had a marital tiff,” alongside a crying with laughter emoji.
Fans rushed to the comments section of Dan and Louise’s witty exchange, with one person joking: “Now the former non Mrs Walker.”
Another added: “Does your wife know Dan.”
“This is how rumours start,” a third fan commented.
Dan and Louise’s hilarious mishap yesterday also sparked a frenzy amongst social media users, with one typing: “@mrdanwalker Dan reveals secretly wedding @louiseminchin with a slip of the tongue. Viewers in shock.”

Dan spotted the tweet from the viewer and replied that both his wife and Louise’s husband might have an issue with that idea.
He quipped: “I think Louise’s husband and my wife would have something to say about that. #LouiseWalker #BBCBreakfast,” alongside a crying with laughter and flushed face emoji.
Dan then took to Twitter again to clarify the situation after his unfortunate error.
Sharing several snaps of him and his BBC co-host Louise, he told fans: “Just to confirm…
“I do love working with @louiseminchin but we are not married… despite what I said on #BBCBreakfast this morning #MrAndMrsWalker.”
Dan also addressed his mistake later on in the show yesterday morning, telling viewers: “Good morning, you’re watching breakfast with Louise and Dan and just to confirm not married.
“Okay, just in case.”
Louise then added: “Yes we are both separately married but there has been no secret wedding here.
“The thing is, if you were watching at eight, Dan by mistake called me ‘Louise Walker’, I am not.”
