David and Victoria Beckham risk fresh backlash over £10million bank loan claims after furlough U-turn

The Beckhams have risked facing fresh scrutiny about their recent financial decisions as reports have emerged about a recent £10million bank loan.

David and Victoria Beckham were recently criticised by the public, and Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan, after it was revealed Posh’s fashion firm had placed 30 staff on the government furlough scheme “for at least two months”.

Piers, 55, said the decision to use the government funded strategy, instead of using money from their reported £335million fortune made him “puke”.

Days later Victoria, 46, and her company reversed the decision to have 80% of their staff's wages paid by the government programme after the “devastating” backlash.

But the former Spice Girl and her ex-footballer hubby, 45, have been confronted with new criticism as it’s been claimed the pair took out a £10million bank loan to buy their £20million Miami apartment last year.

A source told The Sun on Sunday: “Given the vast wealth of the mega-rich pair, it’s a bit rich of them to have taken out a loan.

“If they hadn’t borrowed cash to buy yet another pad, perhaps they wouldn’t have had to furlough staff in the first place.”

They added: “If Victoria could borrow £10million to buy a Miami bolthole, there are probably a few people thinking she could have borrowed money in the first place to pay her staff, rather than try and rely on the taxpayer.

“Unquestionably, she and David lead an extravagant, no-expense-spared lifestyle. It’s just a shame she’s not as flush in matters of business. While they actually applied for this loan towards the end of last year, the timing of its publication could hardly have been worse.”

It has been claimed the couple used their company, Beckham Brand Limited, to take out the loan – for which they are reportedly paying a fixed rate of 2.5% for ten years.

The lavish apartment, which the couple have reportedly snapped up is in Miami’s “most luxurious” skyscraper, the One Thousand Museum, and is complete with its own helipad, pool, spa and gym.

Posh and Becks reportedly bought the home after David took over ownership of the new Inter Miami Football Club.

Despite the new wave of criticism, the Beckhams appeared to keep calm and carry on as they celebrated David’s 45th birthday party over the weekend.

Victoria shared a selection of adorable unseen images in the form of a video of her and her husband with their four children Brooklyn, 21, Romeo, 17, Cruz, 15, and Harper, eight.

As she posted the sweet clip on her Instagram page she wrote in the caption: “Happy birthday to the best daddy.
