Demi Lovato Launches a Campaign for Her Birthday in Honor of Breonna Taylor

Demi Lovato celebrated her 28th birthday yesterday, but that didn’t stop her from using her platform to remind her followers that justice for Breonna Taylor has yet to be served.

Taking to Instagram, the singer continued to push awareness of Taylor’s case, sharing a meaningful message about how the late 26-year-old emergency medical technician will never get to experience a 28th birthday. Taylor, who’s from Louisville, Kentucky, was shot and killed by police officers who wrongly entered her home on a no-knock warrant. Other high-profile celebrities such as Oprah Winfrey, Beyoncé, and Cardi B have also used their voices and platforms to demand justice for Taylor’s untimely death.

“Today is my 28th birthday… a birthday that Breonna Taylor will never have the opportunity to experience,” wrote Lovato in her post. “I’ve launched a Propeller campaign in Breonna’s honor that includes prewritten letters to the Louisville mayor and chief of police, petition links, and donation links. No matter how big or small you think your impact may be, if we all stand together we can help bring justice for Breonna Taylor.”

Lovato ended her post by stating in all caps, “Start taking action now.”

Lovato also mentioned that she feels fortunate to be celebrating number 28 herself, alluding to her 2018 overdose.

“I’m so lucky to be here today and to have made it to my 28th birthday,” wrote Lovato in her post’s caption. “Join me in taking a stand for Breonna Taylor.”
