50 Cent also comments on the shocking attack, mocking the attacker, who is identified as Isaiah Lee by sharing an unflattering picture of him in the aftermath of the attack.
AceShowbiz -The attack on Dave Chappelle during his latest comedy performance was a huge shock not only to fans but also fellow celebrities. Howard Stern was among those who weighed in on the matter, criticizing the double standard in Hollywood.
“This guy jumped up on stage and attacked Dave Chappelle,” Howard said of the attacker, who is identified as Isaiah Lee, in the Wednesday, May 4 episode of “The Howard Stern Show”. He later pointed out the difference in treatment between Dave’s attacker and Will Smith, who slapped Chris Rock onstage at the 2022 Oscars earlier this year.
“As soon as that happened, did they let him go back to his seat and laugh and sit next to his wife and then give them an award? No! They took him backstage, they broke his arms and hands so bad,” the 68-year-old radio icon said. He added, “They f**king beat the s**t out of him.”
Also commenting on the attack was 50 Cent. In the truest fashion of the rapper, he took to his Instagram account to mock Isaiah by sharing a picture of him sporting wounds as he was handcuffed to a gurney.
“look at this fools head, LOL I bet thats the last time he gonna try to run on stage,” Fiddy wrote in the caption. “wonder what the LGBTQ community is gonna say about this? This is not a good look.”
As for Howie Mandel, he claimed that the attack was “the beginning of the end for comedy.” In an interview with E! News on Wednesday, the “America’s Got Talent” judge said, “Not to comment on what happened at the Academy Awards, but I thought that that opened the flood gates.” The comedian added, “We’re already as comedians being attacked as far as being canceled for something that you don’t like, something that you find offensive, something that you think is too soon.”
“Having been in the industry for nearly 45 years, Mandel never thought he would one day fear for his safety while performing,” the 66-year-old continued. “You saw what happened at the Academy Awards, and I thought that just triggers-violence triggers violence, and I think this is the beginning of the end for comedy.”
Dave got attacked by Isaiah while performing for “Netflix Is A Joke: The Festival” on Tuesday night. Isaiah was later arrested and charged for assault with a deadly weapon as Los Angeles police confirmed he had “a replica handgun with a knife” with him during the attack. He is currently in custody.
In the first statement following the attack, Dave’s representative Carla Sims said on Wednesday, “This run ties Chappelle with Monty Python for the most headlined shows by any comedian at the Hollywood Bowl, reaching 70k fans of diverse backgrounds during the first ‘Netflix Is A Joke: The Festival,’ and he refuses to allow last night’s incident to overshadow the magic of this historic moment.”
The rep added, “As unfortunate and unsettling as the incident was, Chappelle went on with the show.” She also gave Jamie Foxx and Chris Rock a shout-out for helping “calm the crowd with humor before Chappelle introduced the last and featured musical guests for the evening, hip-hop artists Yasiin Bey and Talib Kweli, a.k.a. ‘Black Star,’ who performed music from their new album – the first in nearly 24 years – which was released on Luminary. Other special comedic guests last night included Earthquake, Leslie Jones, Jeff Ross, Sebastian, Jon Stewart and Michelle Wolf.”
