During a virtual concert he hosted via Instagram Live last week, John Legend confirmed he is planning to release a new album this year.
The concert was part of the Together at Home concert series started by Coldplay‘s Chris Martin.
“Just so you guys know, I am putting out a new album this year,” Legend revealed. “Everybody’s home, you need stuff, you need music, you need TV, you need films. You need stuff to entertain you, so I’m going to put some music out.”
He added, “We’re going to release some music. I don’t know what the schedule going to be like, we’re just going to start putting stuff out. We’re in the process of mixing a lot of the stuff on the record. Luckily, I already wrote and recorded most of it.”
Legend previewed one of the new songs, titled “Actions Speak Louder Than Love Songs,” but said he is not sure about release dates and whether he will do music videos and asked fans to keep looking out for new music.
Legend, who is in self-isolation amid the coronavirus spread, told viewers, “As promised I am pantsless, I have a robe on and no pants.”
He began the concert with a cover of Stevie Wonder‘s “Love’s In Need Of Love Today.”
Legend’s wife Chrissy Teigen, wearing one of her famous headbands, joined him in a towel and a glass of wine, as the singer belted out his viral single, “Headband of the Day.” Midway through the 53-minute concert, the couple’s daughter Luna made an appearance.
“All of Me,” “Stay With You,” “Everybody Knows,” “Good Morning,” “Beauty and the Beast” and “Bridge Over Troubled Water” were some of the other songs Legend sang during the virtual concert.
