Liam Payne has quit drinking after reportedly being warned he might not be around to see his son grow up.

The 27 year old shares three year old Bear with former Girls Aloud singer Cheryl, 37.

Ex-One Direction star Liam is now engaged to model Maya Henry, 20, but is on good terms with his ex-girlfriend and regularly sees their son.

But he is now thought to have turned to top advisers as well as his friends in a bid to stay sober after taking partying "too far."

A source said: "Liam was taking things a bit far with partying. He was given warnings, heeded them and is now in a good place.

"The most worrying thing for him was he was told to consider whether he'd be around for Bear if he carried on the way he was going.

"It was a tough warning, probably exaggerated, but it jolted him into action as he's a devoted dad," the insider continued to tell The Sun Online.

Last December, Liam opened up on his battle with alcohol, admitting he was "losing the plot" during his time in the chart-topping boyband, which he joined when he was just 17.

He told The Guardian: "Doing a show to however many thousands of people, then being stuck by yourself in a country where you can't go out anywhere — what else are you going to do? The minibar is always there.

"It was a point where every day, you didn't know whether it was going to be the end [of the band]. It was so touch and go, at every single show. I was slowly losing the plot.

"I was like: 'I don't really know how to deal with this'. Once you start, you can't really press the stop button."

The doting dad was reunited with his beloved son in July after being away from his during the "particularly difficult" lockdown.

Talking on Radio 1, Liam said: "It was the longest time I've not seen him – ever. We were trying to be extra safe. Me and his mum decided that was what was best.
