Nicki Minaj's husband 'arrested after failing to register as sex offender'

Nicki Minaj’s husband Kenneth Petty was ‘arrested’ US Marshalls on an indictment for failing to register as a sex offender.

The 41-year-old apparently remains in custody after turninghimself in to the Marshals during a court appearance on Wednesday.

According to TMZ, Petty will face a judge later today.

He was legally required to register when moving from NewYork – the state he was registered in – to California in July 2019.

The publication claims Petty was arrested and released on a $20,000 (£15,500) bond.

If he is convicted of failing to register as a sex offender, he may face up to 10 years in prison.

Court documents state Petty was originally convicted of first-degree attempted rape in April 1995, when both he and the victim were 16.

According to prosecutors, he had used a sharp object to try to force the girl to have sex with him.

After serving his time, Petty returned to prison on a first-degree manslaughter charge relating to the shooting death of a man in 2006.

The Starships rapper sparked backlash when she debuted herrelationship to Kenneth in 2018.

Nicki defended Petty in the comments section of on Instagram picture, saying: ‘Y’all can’t run my life. Y’all can’t even run y’all own life.’

Giving more details on the conviction, Nicki added: ‘He was15, she was 16 … in a relationship. But go awf, internet.’

In October 2019, Nicki and Petty secretly got married after less than a year of dating.

The Anaconda rapper managed to pull the wool over our eyesby appearing to have tied the knot quietly on Monday 21 October.

In an Instagram post, Nicki announced the happy news bysharing a video of their matching bride and groom baseball caps and matching Mrand Mrs coffee mugs.

Revealing the date of their nuptials, the rapper captioned the image: ‘Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty 10•21•19.’

It came two months after Nicki changed her name to Mrs Petty on Twitter, sparking speculation they had already married.
