The Pixies have announced that they are postponing their remaining Australian shows in Brisbane, Sydney and Perth “out of caution for current public health concern” over the coronavirus.
“This was an extremely difficult decision, but the well-being of our fans is always our top priority,” the alternative rock band said in a statement.
Rescheduled dates for these shows will be announced soon. The Pixies urged fans to retain their tickets as they will be honored on the new dates.
“Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to returning to Australia,” the statement added.
The Pixies have played two sold-out concerts this week in Australia – at Melbourne’s Palais Theatre – as part of their “Come On Pilgrim… It’s Surfer Rosa” tour in support of their album Beneath The Eyrie.
