Queen guitarist Brian May says he doesn’t think there is likely to be a sequel to Bohemian Rhapsody.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, May said he and the filmmakers had looked at a possible follow-up to the 2018 Queen biopic “pretty seriously.”
“Don’t think we didn’t think about it. We’ve talked. Basically we think not, at the moment. Things could change, I suppose, but I think it would be difficult,” May said.
Bohemian Rhapsody was a box office hit and won four Academy Awards, including Best Actor for Rami Malek. He played the role of the iconic band’s late frontman Freddie Mercury.
“I’m not saying it’s impossible because there is a great story there, but we don’t feel that’s the story we want to tell at the moment,” he said in apparent reference to a likely focus on Mercury’s final years as he led a reclusive life battling AIDS.
