Sean Penn and Leila George had a date night for a good cause.
Penn, 59, and George, 27, walked the red carpet for the “Meet Me in Australia” event at the Los Angeles Zoo on Sunday benefitting Australia wildfire relief efforts.
George, who was born in Sydney, spearheaded the event. She welcomed the crowd with a brief speech, posted on an Instagram story, and she was seen dancing to Shania Twain’s performance later in the night.
She previously spoke out about Australia’s National Firefighting Policy in January, sharing on Instagram: “In March 2019 Labor released their National Firefighting Policy. Unfortunately in May Australia voted for a bunch of corrupt climate change deniers, completely beholden to the fossil fuel industry. And so we got ScoMo… We need more than thoughts and prayers.?”
A rep for Penn didn’t immediately get back to us on his involvement with or donations to the cause.
The couple recently made another public appearance for his 10th annual gala to benefit his CORE organization.
They began dating in 2016 after Penn split from Charlize Theron.
He was previously married to Madonna, 61, from 1985 until 1989 and Robin Wright, 53, from 1996 until 2010. Penn and Wright share two children, Dylan, 28, and Hopper, 26.
