Sheridan Smith lands new TV presenting role ahead of welcoming first child

Sheridan Smith has landed herself a brand new presenting role on BBC One's dog styling show Pooch Perfect.

The pregnant award-winning actress, best known for her roles in The Royle Family and Gavin and Stacey, has been confirmed as the face of the new series, as shared on her Twitter account.

The brand new competitive show will see furry friends and ten pairs of professional dog stylists from around the country take part in several themed challenges – in a bid to create the best wacky pet transformations.

Dog groomers will compete in order to be crowned the UK's Top Dog Stylist.

BBC bosses have confirmed to Mirror Online she will be the presenter for the show.

"To combine my love of dogs with a brand new job presenting for the BBC was a match made in heaven!" Sheridan said to the outlet about her new prime-time TV gig.

She continued: "Everyone who knows me will understand that animals, and especially dogs, are very special to me."

The star lives at home with six four-legged friends, and says it "didn't take much consideration" to accept the presenting gig, admitting it's her "dream job".

Pooch Perfect is based on the Australian version of the show, which is presented by Hollywood star Rebel Wilson.

The new UK series will have a group of celebrity judges make an appearance during eight hour-long episodes.

Sheridan announced she was expecting a baby with fiancé Jamie Horn, who she met on Tinder.

The star lost her dad in December, 2016, following his battle with cancer, and she is hinted that she will honor her late father when naming her tot.
