An impressive list of musical artists teamed up to raise funds in support of the nurses, doctors, and other healthcare workers of Jamaica.
The 6-hour program, dubbed “Telethon Jamaica, Together We Stand” aired on Sunday, April 11, and featured appearances from such artists as Sting, Gloria Estefan, Wyclef Jean, the late Bob Marley‘s sons Ziggy, Damian, & Stephen, Shaggy, and Jimmy Cliff.
“The people of the United States…see how disastrous this is as a disease, and the impact it can have on even the most well-resourced health service,” said Andrew Holness, Jamaica’s prime minister.
“Hello to all the beautiful people of Jamaica…I wanted to send you all a lot of love, a lot of solidarity,” Estefan shared in a video message that was telecast during the program. “We’re all going through this together and we are thinking of you in this time and sending prayers and good thoughts of good health, strength and resilience.”
The singer also performed “Puedes Llegar,” a Spanish rendition of her 1996 hit song, “Reach.”
The entire program is now available for watching through the official YouTube channel of VP Records.
