    COPA AMERICA SWITCH

Argentina have been ruled out as 2021 Copa America hosts due to an increase in coronavirus cases in the country.

The nation's governing bodies made the shock announcement on Sunday and South American football confederation CONMEBOL announced the competition will be held in Brazil for the second successive time.

A statement read: "The CONMEBOL Copa America 2021 will be played in Brazil! Tournament start and end dates are confirmed. The venues and the fixtures will be informed by CONMEBOL in the next few hours. The oldest national team tournament in the world will make the whole continent vibrate!"

Argentina have been enduring a seven-day average of 35,000 cases and 500 deaths – so far, over 77,000 people have died of COVID-19.

New hosts Brazil have reported more than 460,000 coronavirus-related deaths, the second-highest tally in the world

    AL IN

No one has ever had more success in Chile's national football team than Inter Milan star Alexis Sanchez.

Sanchez is the Roja's all-time top scorer with 43 goals, surpassing the likes of Arturo Vidal, Ivan Zamorano and Marcelo Salas.

The former Arsenal and Manchester United star also holds the record of most appearances having played 133 times for his country.

But the likes of Bologna ace Gary Medel and ex-Manchester City goalkeeper Claudio Bravo are not very far behind with 126 and 123 caps respectively

    NO MESS-ING AROUND

Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi obviously poses as the biggest star out of the entire Argentina team.

Messi is already his country's record goalscorer ahead of the likes of Gabriel Batistuta, Sergio Aguero, Hernan Crespo, Gonzalo Higuain and of course the legendary Diego Maradona.

In fact, the star forward is only 29 goals away from making it to 100 for the Albiceleste, something no one else has ever managed to achieve before.

The Argentinean legend is also a mere six caps away from overthrowing former team-mate Javier Mascherano for most appearances, record currently stands at 147.

This World Cup qualifying round is especially important for the soon-to-be 34-year-old as the 2022 World Cup will probably be his last ever chance of winning international football's greatest honour

    CHILE STATS

Unlike Argentina, Chile have already played a game this year as they beat Bolivia 2-1 in a friendly match last March at home.

The Roja, though, haven't been in exceptional form as they have only won two out of their last five matches.

Martin Lasarte's men lost twice in the process to the likes of Venezuela and Uruguay in South America's World Cup qualifying round.

Chile have also struggled to maintain clean sheets as they only count one out of their last six matches

    ARGENTINA STATS

Tonight marks Argentina's first game of the year after their scheduled World Cup qualifiers against Brazil and Uruguay got postponed due to coronavirus travel restrictions.

The Albiceleste have been on a roll lately as they haven't lost a single match across all competitions since their 2-0 defeat to the Selecao in July 2019 during the Copa America semi-finals.

Since then, Lionel Scaloni's men have been on a tear as they have won a total of seven out of 11 games.

So basically, Argentina have been undefeated for almost two whole years

    HEAD -TO-HEAD

Argentina and Chile's first ever encounter took place way back in 1910 during a friendly match in Cordoba, which the hosts won 3-1.

Since then, the two sides have faced off a total of 53 times with the Albiceleste winning a vast majority of 37 matches compared to the Roja's mere three victories.

In fact, Chile weren't able to beat Argentina until October 2008 during a World Cup qualifier in Santiago with a score of 1-0 thanks to Fabian Orellana's winner.

Since then, the Chileans have won three out of a total of 10 matches against tonight's opponents, losing six in the process
