Tulsa Golden Hurricane (11-1)

Schultz: It’s hard to ignore the value here, especially when we consider that the Golden Hurricane rank 34th in adjusted defensive efficiency (per KenPom) in a league that usually struggles to score. Tulsa finished the regular season third in the American, boasting wins over Houston, Wichita State, Memphis, SMU and Connecticut — not to mention Austin Peay and Vanderbilt.

Frank Haith’s team is highly disciplined defensively, doesn’t gamble, doesn’t run and grinds teams down with deliberate offensive possessions. That’s a pretty good formula in any conference tournament. If senior forward Martins Igbanu (20.4 PPG, 7.6 RPG per 40 minutes) stays out of foul trouble, this is too good a price to pass up.
