Eiza Gonzalez to Star in Thriller ‘Wolf Country’

Actor Eiza Gonzalez has been cast in the upcoming movie “Wolf Country.”

Described as a “muscular thriller” in the vein of the 2016 Jeff Bridges Western “Hell or High Water,” the film centers on a young deputy shunned by her entire community after she uncovers a large drug haul that implicates the town’s beloved sheriff, who also happens to be her father. When he escapes custody and flees into the rugged Colorado wilderness, his daughter must face the very man who taught her everything about right and wrong to bring him to justice.

Gonzalez’s characters father has not been cast yet.

Jennifer Fox, who recently directed Laura Dern in the HBO drama “The Tale,” is helming “Wolf Country” from a script by Peter Begler (“Chance”).

Endeavor Content and 51 Entertainment had previously optioned the script in a bidding war and have been developing the film with Begler and Fox. Both Endeavor Content and 51 Entertainment are producing “Wolf Country,” with Endeavor Content is handling worldwide sales.

Additional producers include Lynette Howell Taylor and Samantha Housman at 51 Entertainment.

Gonzalez has appeared in Edgar Wright’s crime drama “Baby Driver,” the action adventure “Alita: Battle Angel” and “The Fast and the Furious” spinoff “Hobbs & Shaw.” More recently, she starred in the Warner Bros. monster mashup “Godzilla vs. Kong,” Netflix’s dark comedy “I Care A Lot” opposite Rosamund Pike and voiced the role of Milagro in the Universal and DreamWorks animated family film “Spirit Untamed,” which released in theaters last weekend. As for upcoming projects, Gonzalez just wrapped production on “Ambulance” co-starring Jake Gyllenhaal.
