I’m so lonely as a single mum stuck in a council flat during lockdown – The Sun

DEAR DEIDRE I WAS already lonely but lockdown has made me feel worse about being on my own.

I’m a single mum, aged 26, with a three-year-old son.

His dad doesn’t want to know.

My mum has health issues so couldn’t move in and we’ve had to make do with Skype.

I live in a council flat and my neighbours on both sides are elderly, so I have little in common with them.

I don’t know how I can make friends and this whole situation of being shut in nearly all day has made me feel so depressed.

DEIDRE SAYS: Lockdown has been especially tough for anyone under stress.

You’ll feel less alone if you check out Gingerbread, the single parents’ organisation (gingerbread.org.uk, 0808 802 0925).

You can make friends through their online forum.

Try to structure your day around your son being active – if he feels good you will feel better.

You can find lots of videos to help at familylives.org.uk.
