FormerLove IslandcontestantJake Cornishhas accused ITV of doctoring scenes from the hit ITV dating series to make him look like a "game player and saboteur" who wasn't really into his partnerLiberty Poole.
The 24-year-old thinks producers were determined to wreck his relationship with his now-ex Liberty.
He’s convinced he was intentionally edited to appear the bad guy compared with winnerLiam Reardon, despite remaining faithful to Liberty while his 22-year-old pal cosied up to Lillie Haynes while he was away from Millie Court.
Jake also believes the show’s editing is what sparked a savage response from fans, and admits he’s received a slew of terrifying death threats since leaving the villa.
In an interview with MailOnline, the reality star said: "It isn't nice I’ve been painted this way as a pantomime villain. It isn't the nicest to come across as someone I'm not."
"During the Movie Night they had to bring back a clip from day two to make me look bad. I'm sorry but day two?" he added.
"Everyone's got opinions but that was taken out of context. I had to sit back and take it."
In the villa, producers played a clip of Jake saying: "I haven't got the girl there where I'm like f*** me, I want to rip your clothes off".
Jake gets the producers want to make good, dramatic telly, but argues: "It isn’t nice when you’re on the back end."
He suspects portraying him in a worse light than Liam was their game plan from the get-go.
The water engineer from Weston-super-Mare said: "I got a bigger backlash than Liam when I didn't get with any girl and was loyal and I'm the one that's come out the worst. How does that work?"
An ITV spokesperson said: "It is always our intention to produce a show that is a fair and accurate representation of life in the villa."
Since the show’s finale, Jake has been hounded by trolls, but insists it hasn’t affected his mental health.
"I am okay. I am very thick skinned. I've had a lot of death threats but the only people I care about are those that want to support me."
