Lilibet Had the Cutest Pink Cake Covered in Peonies for Her First Birthday Party

Earlier this month, family and close friends of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex celebrated the first birthday of baby Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor with an intimate backyard picnic hosted at Frogmore Cottage, where guests were treated to face painting and cake. Now, baker Claire Ptak has shared a first look at one-year-old’s special custom party cake.

Ptak, who made Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan’s cake for their 2018 wedding, posted a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the making of Lilibet’s treat. The two-tiered cake was covered in pale pink frosting and multiple pink and white peonies. It also included an orange flag cake topper that spelled out her name.

“It was an absolute pleasure to make this special cake last week for Lilibet’s birthday,” Ptak captioned the photo. “Wishing her a very happy year ahead!”

Supporters across the world donated more than $100,000 to World Central Kitchen in honor of Lili’s major milestone, a spokesperson previously confirmed to WCK, an organization close to the Sussexes’ hearts, responds to humanitarian, climate, and community crises by providing meals to those in need. Most recently, the charity operated in Uvalde, Texas, in the aftermath of the elementary school shooting and in Ukraine after Russia launched a military invasion.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex returned to the United Kingdom in early June, bringing with them Lili and their three-year-old son Archie, in order to celebrate Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee. The visit marked their first official public appearance in the country since they stepped back as senior members of the royal family in 2020.
