Morrisons announces major changes to menus and customers aren’t too impressed

Morrisons, along with most supermarket cafés, reopened its doors for indoor dining on May 17.

During the lockdowns, the store decided to change its menu when it welcomed customers back.

But this week many customers took to social media to complain about the new food options at Morrisons.

The supermarket posted a video of shoppers eatings in its cafés on Twitter this week, with a caption that read: "Welcome back!

"Our cafe doors are back open and we can't wait for you to try our brand new menu!

"With safety screens and social distancing in place, order on your mobile phone from the comfort of your seat. Easy peasy."

But some customers have been left distraught over the new menu, especially as some items have been removed.

The lasagne and jacket potato in the cafés are no longer available.

One customer wrote: "Yesterday – first day back to try new menu – no jacket potato!

"Does Morrisons cafes want to lose loyal customers?"

Another added: "You really need to change the new menu in your café, it's God awful."

The customer continued: "For what you get for the price, it's a complete ripoff.

"We used to visit a few times a week, sorry but not coming again."

While a fourth said: "We don't like your new menu not as good as the old one."

And a fifth asked Morrisons to have a "rethink about its menu".

Before the third lockdown, the cafés were offering some of Britain's classic foods, like a Full English Breakfast and Fish and Chips.

Options for breakfast include Poached Eggs and Avocado, for lunch there's a Fish Goujon Sandwich and the Veggie Burger.

There's also Afternoon Tea For Two, which features sandwiches, pork pies, cakes and fruit cones with a pot of Yorkshire Tea.

As today is National Fish and Chip Day, Morrisons has been encouraging customers to try this option on its menu.

It said: "What better way to celebrate than having delicious fish and chips from one of our cafes."
