DEAR DEIDRE: WHEN I made a complaint about a guy I work with, the company sacked me.
I’m furious that they took his side over mine and that I’ve lost my job when I did nothing wrong.

I’m a married woman of 34, and the young man is 24. We work in a building management company.
He’s a security guard and I’m a receptionist.
He developed a bit of a soft spot for me and kept wanting to meet for coffee.
I made it clear that it wasn’t appropriate and that he was making me uncomfortable, but he didn’t stop – and even turned up at my desk with a gift.
So I reported him for harassment but I was told my accusation was unacceptable as he is a good worker with no complaints, and that I should have been clearer with him.

Now I’ve been dismissed because they are “not happy with my performance”.
They seemed happy with me before, so I think it’s just an excuse to get rid of me.
