My doctor refuses to help me with my mental health problems | The Sun

DEAR DEIDRE: WHEN I told my doctor I needed some mental health support, he said: “Well, you sound alright to me.”

I couldn’t believe it. I’m a 57-year-old woman and I’ve had bipolar disorder for 25 years.

In my old town I had a fantastic mental health team but we had to move to a village because my husband got a new job in a different area.

It’s a lovely village but I don’t go out of the house. I can’t work. I can’t go to the shops alone.

I have lost out on my benefits because I’ve had to go through new assessments on the phone.

When I broke down, the lady said she’d get my doctor to phone – he did but clearly doesn’t believe I am ill.
