My partner dumped me because I refused to try swinging

DEAR DEIDRE: BECAUSE I didn’t want to try swinging, my new partner split up with me.

I am 54 and he is 65. We got together on a dating site two months ago but because of coronavirus we have yet to meet.

We were messaging and had a few Zoom calls – it seemed to be going well.

He began talking about his sexual past and mentioned he’d been swinging.

He asked me if I would go with him but I flatly refused, saying it is not something I have done nor would I ever want to.

He took it badly and the next morning I got a text that said he was splitting with me.

DEIDRE SAYS: Aside from the risks of further spreading coronavirus, you are totally within your rights to refuse.

Bringing other people into a relationship is risky and can cause huge problems of hurt and damaged trust.

The fact he disappeared so soon after learning you would not try swinging suggests that finding a swinging partner was his main focus.

As you are not remotely interested in trying this, it sounds like you have had a lucky escape.
