Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty turns leggings into lingerie and sends social media into frenzy

Rihanna’s lingerie brand is turning heads. 

A lingerie piece from the Savage X Fenty line features a pair of “soft mesh open-back crotchless leggings,” and the look has social media users debating if the revealing backside could become a legitimate fashion statement. 

The leggings look like typical activewear at first glance, butthe back is made up of a lattice pattern.

While the leggings aren’t meant for public view (the website markets them for “a cozy night in”)one TikToker called for the style to be “normalized,” sparking a debate in the comments.

“Can we normalize butt cleavage? Butt cleave is sexy, butt cleave is amazing, let’s normalize that,” @sweet_thaang_ said in response to a video mistakenly attributing the leggings to a Fabletics product. 

Though many commented “no,” the leggings are highly rated.

Ninety percent of purchasers who have reviewed the product would recommend it to others, according to the Savage X Fenty website. 

One buyer wrote: “I am in love with these pants. They’re the perfect cross between sexy and comfortable. Not to mention the crotchless feature. I ordered a second pair.”

USA TODAY reached out to Savage x Fenty for comment. 

Rihanna first introduced the lingerie brand in 2018 after the success of her makeup line Fenty Beauty. Savage X Fenty was launched with the desire to make an inclusive intimate clothing brand for all.

Despite her Fenty fashion line being put on hold by luxury fashion group LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, Savage X Fenty has taken off. In February, the brand announced raising $115 million in fundraising dollars to expand into retail and further invest in customer acquisition.
