A statement by the club read: ‘Watford Football Club is aware of social media posts which suggest two players contravened Government lockdown protocols.
‘The club will investigate fully and speak to the players concerned.’
The gathering also contravened League protocols, which urge players to remain with their own families.

The gathering would in addition go against the Premier League protocols introduced as part of Project Restart. Players are actively encouraged to remain within their own family groups and avoid unnecessary contact.
The staff and players at Watford returned their latest batch of coronavirus tests earlier in the day on Friday – but the Athletic believe that it remains unclear whether the players involved in the party will be retested or removed from the rest of the squad.
According to the same report, the Premier League will allow Watford to proceed with any potential disciplinary action themselves.

Gray shares the property in question with partner, and Little Mix singer, Leigh-Anne Pinnock
Former Burnley striker Gray shares the property in question, which is reportedly in Surrey, with his partner, and Little Mix singer, Leigh-Anne Pinnock.
He had turned 29 on Friday, and the alleged gathering raises serious concerns due to its breach of the measures in place to prevent the spread of the disease.
Watford have endured a tough season and are languishing in 16th place in the top flight in their battle to avoid relegation. Nigel Pearson’s men suffered defeat against Burnley earlier this week.

Watford defender Adrian Mariappa had confirmed he’d tested positive for coronavirus in May
Gray and Quina’s team-mate Adrian Mariappa confirmed in May that he had tested positive for coronavirus and admitted that the result was a ‘big surprise’.
The club revealed that three members of their football staff tested positive overall, including one player and two other staff members.
Mariappa had been forced to undertake a week-long isolation period before being re-tested and returning to training.
Hornets star Joao Pedro may also come under scrutiny due to a separate incident from Friday. The 18-year-old posted a photo on Instagram showing him having a haircut, which is also against the current Government guidelines.
