WB Games Was Going To Reveal Another Arkham Game At E3 2020 [Rumor]
It’s been five years since the release of Batman: Arkham Knight, the last installment of the popular Arkham series.
Ever since Arkham Knight was released, there have been nonstop rumors and reports about another installment arriving. But here we are in March 2020, and nothing has been announced.
However, a new report strongly suggests that another chapter in the Arkham series could be on the horizon.
Citing three sources who are “familiar with the publisher’s plans,” Jason Schreier of Kotaku reports that Warner Bros. Games had plans for “an E3 press conference this year for the first time, to talk about Batman, Harry Potter, and Rocksteady’s game among others.”
However, the event was canceled due to concerns about the outbreak of the coronavirus. Now, it’s uncertain what Warner Bros. Games will do next, following the cancellation of the major event.
Of course, if Warner Bros. Games truly has plans for another Arkham games, fans of the video game series – which produced four games – can at least wait enthusiastically for a big announcement down the road.
A previous report from Geeks WorldWide said that WB Games Montreal would do “a soft reboot” for the next Arkham game. And of course, WB Games Montreal has had a fun time teasing a sequel on their official Twitter page.
Those who played the game will remember that the ending for Batman: Arkham Knight didn’t provide a clear and concrete ending, leaving open the possibility of a sequel. The fate of both Batman and loyal butler Alfred Pennyworth weren’t revealed.
Rocksteady Studios produced the first two games in the Arkham series – Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City. WB Games Montreal produced Batman: Arkham Origins – the third game in the series – which was set before the events of Arkham Asylum. Rocksteady Studios would then (supposedly at the time) close out the series with Batman: Arkham Knight.
Only time will tell if a heavily desired fifth game ever comes around, but Batman fans have good reason to remain optimistic.
