Ex-EastEnders star Jack Ryder and girlfriend Ella are expecting first child

Former EastEnders star Jack Ryder and his girlfriend Ella are expecting a baby.

The actor, 38, who is best known for playing Jamie Mitchell on the BBC One soap for four years, shared his excitement over his baby news during an appearance on Loose Women on Thursday.

Appearing via video link, Jack revealed that he and his longtime partner are set to welcome their first child together in July and are ‘as prepared as we can be’ while waiting for Ella’s due date to come around.

He said: ‘We are due in July. Ella and I are gushy and over the moon. I always just smile when I talk about it.

‘We’re prepared as we can be, but we’ve got toys all around the place and clothes and bits and pieces. Yeah, we’re ready to go.’

Jack, who was previously married to Coronation Street star Kym Marsh, added: ‘We’re very humbled and grateful. It’s going to be an amazing journey.’

Of course, talk also turned to EastEnders, with Jack saying he finds it ‘crazy’ that he made his debut on the soap over 20 years ago.

Jamie Mitchell first made an appearance in Albert Square in 1998 and was best known for his on/off relationship with Sonia Fowler (played by Natalie Cassidy), before his character met a tragic end on Christmas Day in 2002.

‘It’s crazy, it’s over 20 years,’ Jack said.

‘It’s weird because on one side of the coin you think it’s gone so quickly and then so much has happened since then,’ he continued.

‘I don’t even think I watched that episode – the Christmas Day death.’

Asked whether he still keeps in touch with any of the EastEnders’ cast, Jack said he still speaks to Natalie, Dean Gaffney, who played Robbie Fowler, and Steve McFadden (Phil Mitchell) from time to time.

‘They were a crowd… me and Mr Gaffney we touch base quite a lot.

‘Me and Natalie as well and Steve McFadden, who actually when I was doing Holby City we bumped into each other,’ Jack revealed.

Since EastEnders, Jack has turned his attentions to writing and directing and appeared in Holby City last year.

Spoilers: Corrie star reveals huge Toyah story after Leanne and Oliver tragedy

Coronation Street star Jane Danson has confirmed that Leanne and Oliver Battersby’s tragic storyline will lead to a big plotline in the future for Toyah (Georgia Taylor) as the events around Oliver’s illness cause ripples through those involved with the family.

Viewers have noted that Toyah has not been at the forefront of a major story for some time and have called for Georgia’s popular character to have more screentime.

Jane agrees – and told Metro.co.uk that Toyah is not only central to the mitochondrial disease story for Oliver but that the tragic situation will open up something new to explore for Toyah herself.

What is mitochondrial disease?

Mitochondrial diseases result from failures of the mitochondria, specialized compartments present in every cell of the body (except red blood cells).

Mitochondria are responsible for creating more than 90% of the energy needed by the body to sustain life and support organ function. When they fail, less and less energy is generated within the cell. Cell injury and even cell death follow. If this process is repeated throughout the body, whole organ systems begin to fail.

The parts of the body, such as the heart, brain, muscles and lungs, requiring the greatest amounts of energy are the most affected.

Symptoms vary depending on the organ(s) affected but may include seizures, atypical cerebral palsy, autistic features, developmental problems, fainting and temperature instability.

According to The Lily Foundation, the prognosis depends upon the severity of the disease and other criteria. As more research funds are raised to find more effective treatments and ultimately a cure, some of the affected children and adults are living fairly normal lives with mitochondrial disease.

In other cases, children may not be able to see, hear, talk or walk. Affected children may not survive beyond their teenage years. Adult onset can result in drastic changes from an active lifestyle to a debilitating ilness is a short amount of time.

Treatment plans vary from patient to patient but involve therapies, diet changes and other means to try and slow the progress of the disease.

You can find out more information from the NHS here.

She told Metro.co.uk: ‘I know what’s coming up – there are massive stories come out of this that I’m less a part of. It’s structured so well. It’s so hard to watch but we can’t push it too long as it’s a lot to take in – we were right in the middle when we finished so I am looking forward to exploring the journey further. I want to get our heads down and get on with it.

‘Georgia and I are the best of friends, completely. Toyah will be without a doubt Leanne’s biggest rock. It’s lovely for Georgia too as we’ve both been quiet before this. The characters are so different but there’s this massive bond.’

The actress added: ‘Toyah’s the gentler one and Leanne’s the stroppy one! We have always loved that about them but they absolutely love each other. We’re so lucky to get on the way we do.

‘Toyah becomes a huge part of this – and this opens up another big story for her which will be well explored. It is a massive involvement – which is great.’

'Bull' Star Michael Weatherly Reveals His Two 'All-Time' Favorite Actors

Today, Michael Weatherly leads the hit procedural Bull on CBS. And, though it has been years since the actor played Special Agent Tony DiNozzo, he will always be remembered as NCIS’s quick-tongued womanizer with a proclivity for poorly-timed jokes.

Michael Weatherly rose to fame on the back of NCIS; his career pre-DiNozzo was not all too bright, as he starred in a handful of Fox flops that all went off the air in under two years: Significant Others, Dark Angel, and Girls Club.

Yet, Weatherly found a character that worked in NCIS — a character with a wicked sense of humor, which wasn’t a far cry from the actor’s true demeanor. Maybe, the likeness between him and DiNozzo wound up being the secret ingredient for success. Yet, who does Michael Weatherly look up to in the showbiz world? Who does Michael Weatherly love when it comes to entertainers? In a 20 questions-themed interview with Parade, Michael Weatherly named his “all-time” favorite actors.

RELATED: Tony DiNozzo of ‘NCIS’ Would Have Been Different If Michael Weatherly’s Initial Character Plans Came to Fruition: Here’s How

Former ‘NCIS’ star Michael Weatherly on his favorite actor and actress

Parade posed a difficult question to Michael Weatherly: “Who are your all-time favorite Hollywood actor and actress?” Weatherly thought for a moment, and then replied:

Gosh. Well. That’s pretty fun. You know, old-school, I love the classics, the elegant Cary Grant, and Grace Kelly [he says the latter name looking into the distance lovingly, as if daydreaming about the actress].

RELATED: Inside the Large Age Gap Between Former ‘NCIS’ Star Michael Weatherly and Wife Bojana Jankovic

Michael Weatherly named two Hollywood elites — two performers who, for decades, defined the industry, epitomized what showbiz was and what it stood for. Yet, Cary Grant died in 1986, and Grace Kelly in 1982. They were both big stars in the 1950s, so what are they most famous for today?

Inside Cary Grant and Grace Kelly’s Hollywood careers

Cary Grant was an English-born actor who represented classic Hollywood (in every way shape and form). Though his real name was Archibald Alexander Leach, he rose to fame when Hollywood was fixated on falsifying glamorous origin stores and pushing forth even more glamorous names, so Cary Grant it was.

From the 1940s to the 1960s, Cary Grant played a handful of leading men. Grant starred in 1959’s North by Northwest, 1955’s To Catch a Thief, 1963’s Charade, 1957’s An Affair to Remember, and more. He was nominated for the Oscar twice — once for 1942’s Penny Serenade, and again for 1945’s None But the Lonely Heart. He took home an honorary Oscar in 1970.

As for Grace Kelly, she starred in several films throughout the 1950s before becoming the Princess of Monaco by marrying Prince Rainer III in 1956. Though Kelly’s film career was short-lived, she sure made a splash. She starred alongside Grant in To Catch a Thief in 1955. She also held leading roles in Dial M for Murder, Rear Window, High Noon, and High Society.

Kelly took home the Academy Award in 1955 for The Country Girl, and she was nominated in 1954 for Mogambo. Both Grant and Kelly were emblems of a foregone Tinseltown — with all the glitz, glamor, and hidden scandals that once typified the industry.

Jessie James Decker is an entrepreneur, wannabe lifestyle guru, singer, and celebrity influencer.

She has been involved in music since 2009, releasing hit singles like “Wanted” and “Clint Eastwood.” Decker was also involved in her own short-lived reality show, Eric & Jessie: Game On.

Over the years, fans have seen Decker and her husband, former NFL pro Eric Decker, welcome three children, all as they expand their business empire. Jessie James Decker has built her career on the premise that she is a relatable, girl-next-door type.

Jessie James Decker (born Jessie James) first burst onto the music scene in 2009, but she was no stranger to performing. Decker began singing when she was just a child, putting on shows in contests and pageants all over Georgia and Tennessee.

At the age of seventeen, Decker landed her own recording contract and began writing and recording music.

Her debut album was released in August 2009, and made her a country music sensation. Her vocal style was compared to Christina Aguilera and many critics loved her impressive range.

Although her music career started out on a promising note, over the next several years, Decker’s focus shifted to reality television. The show gained Decker an abundance of fans and went on to run for a total of three seasons.

Still, in late 2018, rumors started swirling that Eric Decker had been stepping out on his wife.

According to the rumors, Decker made a habit out of visiting Nashville bars and clubs, and hooking up with women that he met there. Decker was quick to slam the rumors, claiming that the only club he frequents is “The Mickey Mouse Club House.”

Jessie James Decker didn’t directly respond to the cheating rumors – however, it seems as though the country singer has some troubles of her own to deal with.

  • Wayne, 34 and wife Coleen’s new Cheshire mansion is set within 120 acres

  • Family home features six bedrooms, orangery, snooker room and swimming pool

Footballer Wayne Rooney will be able to show off his growing interest in fine wine with a £150,000 walk-in cellar at his sprawling new £20million country pad.

The former England and Man United icon, who now plays for Derby County, will no doubt be keen to show off the stunning wine room to guests, which boasts climate control, dim lighting and tiers of drawers and shelves to keep his collection at its best.

Style mag Livingetc has described the room as ‘the ultimate at the top of our wish list’ , The Sunday Mirror reports.

Work on football icon Wayne Rooney’s £20m Cheshire mansion resumed this week after stopping because of the pandemic

Wayne and Coleen Rooney are close to completing work on their £20m mansion, which boasts a wine cellar, as well as swimming pool, snooker room, orangery and cinema room

Builders returned to work on Wayne and wife Coleen’s new Cheshire mansion earlier this week after construction came to a halt because of the pandemic.

Work on the estate near Knutsford stopped last month due to concerns around building supply deliveries, as lockdown restrictions came into full force.

The cellar is just one aspect of the entire development, which is situated within 120 acre grounds and was purchased by the couple for £4.2million.

Wayne and Coleen Rooney’s new Cheshire mansion will reportedly be worth £20million

Wayne, 34, is also reportedly planning to build a golf course, with full-length holes, a pitch and putt course and a driving range.

There is already a football pitch and two fishing lakes in the grounds, while the family home will have its own orangery, snooker room with bar, cinema and swimming pool when construction is finished.

Safety precautions are being taken after the family suffered an attempted burglary at their old £6million home in 2016 while he was playing a football match.

Coleen with the couple’s four sons: Kai, 10, Cass, two, Kit, four and Klay, seven

The couple reportedly paid a Cheshire property developer more than £4million to build their dream three-storey home, kitted out with state-of-the-art security features and had hoped to move in this month after the end of the football league.

But the pandemic has meant that a date for the final games has yet to be set and construction has fallen behind.

A source close to the footballer claimed the family had not planned to move in ‘for a significant while yet’.

The couple and their four sons Kai, 10, Klay, seven, Kit, four and baby Cass have been staying in a nearby £5million home while the Cheshire mansion is being built.

RHOBH star Lisa Rinna’s daughters Delilah Belle, 21, and Amelia Hamlin, 18, sport bikinis on the beach

REAL Housewives of Beverly Hills star Lisa Rinna's model daughters looked to be putting any lockdown woes behind them.

Delilah Belle, 21, and Amelia Hamlin, 18, put on a peachy display in skimpy bikinis as they hit up Malibu beach in California, on Friday.

Amelia wore a colourful cutaway swimsuit, which showcased her physique and golden tan.

Delilah chose a bronze tie front bikini top with matching bottoms, as they stepped out.

It left little to the imagination as she made rear-ly sure the sunshine reached her buns.

Both sisters covered their eyes with dark glasses.

The beauties have been isolating in Malibu, and sharing Instagrams from the stunning location.

Earlier this month, their RHOBH mom Lisa Rinna shaded Lori Loughlin's college admissions scandal during a chat with Amelia.

The 56-year-old made the feisty jab during an emotional sit-down on the Bravo series.

In August, Amelia moved from Los Angeles to New York City to study nutrition, wellness and psychology at private university The New School.

However, during her trip to the Big Apple for cast mate Kyle Richards’ NYFW show, Lisa said she knew her daughter was in “trouble” after spending time with her.

The teenager struggled being so far away from home after her battle with anorexia last year and returned home shortly after her mom’s visit.

"I'm going to figure out my anxiety next week. It’s just like pretty bad. And I want to get evaluated,” Amelia told her mom.

The RHOBH star said she “could not imagine” her daughter still being 3,000 miles away.

Amelia agreed and revealed she is “so much happier” being with her family in California.

The model then said she plans to transfer to the prestigious University of Southern California – which is at the center of the infamous college admissions scandal.

Amelia told her mom: ”I have all my math requirements to transfer into USC.

“This is so that if I get in, I won't have to take another math class. I'll have my math credits for college.”

Lisa joked back: “Good! Because I'm not going to put you on a rowing machine and take a picture of you.”

As the reality star laughed, her daughter quipped back: “That was the wrong thing to say. I’m trying to get into USC here. Like… let's not.”

"I'm joking, I would never, ever do that. I really wouldn’t,” Lisa assured.

Lori, 55, and her husband Mossimo Giannulli have plead guilty to staging pictures of daughters’ Olivia Jade, 20, and Isabella, 21, rowing as part of their efforts to get the girls into USC on fraudulent athletic credentials.

‘Selling Sunset’ Star Heather On Why Tarek El Moussa Won’t Be On The Show “Anytime Soon”

It’s been 10 months since Playboy playmate turned Oppenheim Group real estate agent turned Selling Sunset star Heather Rae Young started dating Flip or Flop host Tarek El Moussa. The couple have made their relationship Instagram official, moved into an Orange County home together, and welcomed Heather’s new title as "bonus mom" to El Moussa’s children with ex-wife Christina Anstead. But there’s one relationship milestone they’ve yet to achieve: El Moussa making his Selling Sunset debut.

Their whirlwind romance is a constant topic of conversation — and, yes, conflict — in the show’s newly released second season, but El Moussa never actually turns up onscreen. "Unfortunately, right now, he has obligations to HGTV," Heather tells Bustle of his conspicuous absence. "So, it’s probably not going to happen anytime soon."

After five and a half months of filming, Heather is instead focusing on settling into their home. Since the show wrapped in March, "I took a little bit of breathing time to enjoy my relationship and the children, and then just focus back on full time real estate," she says.

Heather met El Moussa’s two kids weeks into their relationship, a move that stirs up controversy with new cast member and single mom of two Amanza Smith. "I think a lot of people didn’t realize that Tarek and I committed ourselves 100% on date two, which meant me committing myself to his children 100%," explains Young, who now feels "a lot of respect from other moms."

Even Amanza, it seems, has come around. "It’s oozing from them that they’re destined and meant to be together," she says. "People like me step in and give their opinion prematurely, but she’s proved us all wrong and God bless them."

In quarantine, the cast members have actually commiserated over how much harder it is to keep up with the Oppenheim group chat when kids are involved.

"Sometimes we’ll go to our phones, and Amanza and I will be like, ‘Sorry, we’re super busy today,’ and it’ll be like 60 missed texts in our group text," Young says. "I’m like, I don’t have time to go back and look through these. Sorry guys!"

The Future of the 'Star Trek' Film Franchise is Uncertain, According to Simon Pegg

The future of the Star Trek film franchise at Paramount Pictures appears to be in limbo. At one time, there were discussions to get a Star Trek 4 off the ground that would have given us a time travel story where Chris Pine as Captain Kirk teamed up with Chris Hemsworth his late father George Kirk. Unfortunately, difficult salary negotiations stopped the movie dead in its tracks, and according to Simon Pegg, there doesn’t appear to be any urgency to pick up where Star Trek Beyond left off in 2016.

Collider caught up with Simon Pegg as the actor is making the publicity rounds for his new movie Inheritance, and he mentioned one big issue that took away some of the enthusiasm to make another Star Trek movie with the cast that director J.J. Abrams assembled back in 2009. Pegg said:

“One thing I did mention when I spoke about it recently is that for us, losing Anton Yelchin the way we did was a real blow. And I think it slightly took the wind out of our sails in terms of our enthusiasm to do another one, just because we’re now missing one of our family. He would be conspicuous by his absence.”

Indeed, the absence of Anton Yelchin as Pavel Chekov would be felt, but there have always been ways to continue franchises without certain characters, whether it’s from actors leaving a series or franchise or unexpectedly passing away. Either way, it sounds like no one on the Star Trek cast is clamoring to get a sequel off the ground. Pegg added:

“We’re all still in contact, we were emailing with each other the other day, just checking in, ‘how are we,’ and stuff. But it’s not like any of us have been banging on the door at Paramount saying, ‘Hey, when are we doing this?’ If they say, ‘We’d like to do another movie,’ I’m sure we’ll all jump at the chance. I miss those guys, and I love making those films. But I just don’t know. Noah Hawley’s project has been mentioned, and maybe that will happen. I don’t know anything about that. So yeah, I’m as in the dark as everyone else, I’m in the same boat as you guys.”

If Pegg doesn’t know anything about Noah Hawley’s proposed Star Trek project, which he’s mentioned before, then that would seem to indicate that it’s something separate from the J.J. Abrams reboot franchise. It’s also possible that the project was being developed at the studio before they reached out to any cast members to be involved. But considering Pegg’s involvement in the franchise as both Montgomery Scott and a writer on Star Trek Beyond, you would think he’d be in the know. But here we are.

Perhaps the problem with the modern Star Trek film series is that Paramount wanted to turn it into a tentpole blockbuster franchise, and that’s never really been Star Trek‘s style. As a longtime fan, Pegg recognizes this and thinks maybe the studio should pull in the reins a bit, that way the box office expectations aren’t so high. He reasoned that Star Trek doesn’t have as broad of appeal as the movies of Marvel Studios or other blockbusters:

“I think Star Trek is just a little bit more niche, so it isn’t gonna hit those kind of numbers. So yes, the obvious thing to do would be to not go for that massive spectacle, go for something a little bit more restrained in the vein of the original series. Yes, that would be a brilliant thing to do, and I’m sure it probably has been discussed… You specialize a little bit more.”

But at the end of the day, Star Trek isn’t dead. In fact, the property is flourishing over at CBS All Access with Star Trek Discovery, Star Trek: Picard, and the upcoming spin-off series Star Trek: Strange New Worlds that was recently ordered. And don’t forget about the animated series Star Trek: Lower Decks too. So maybe we don’t need the Star Trek franchise to be shoehorned into continuing on the big screen right now, and it just needs to happen naturally, whenever that may be.
