Game of Thrones: Theon Greyjoy was killed by Bran Stark in axed plot says star

The final season of the George RR Martin-created story certainly created a divide among Game of Thrones fans as they discovered the fates of some of their best-loved characters. There were happy endings for the likes of Arya Stark (played by Maisie Williams) and her sister Sansa (Sophie Turner) but the HBO series didn’t end too well for fan favourites such as Theon Greyjoy (Alfie Allen) and Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) who both died in the final episodes.

However, Theon’s death may have been very different as Arya star Maisie revealed he was initially written to be killed by Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead-Wright) as a joke by the writers.

Theon’s death ultimately came at the hands of the Night King (Vladimir Furdik) after he’d spent the entire Battle of Westeros protecting Bran.

But speaking to Hot Ones for First We Feast in October, Maisie revealed the tables were turned in one scripted as Bran had been written to take out the Greyjoy man.

Presenter of the YouTube channel Sean Evans said the Emmy-nominee: “As you’d expect from a show that’s racked up over 150 Emmy nominations and broken almost every rating record, Game of Thrones is the most fabled show on the internet,”

He continued: “So here we want to fact check some of the rumours that are swirling around in cyberspace, okay?”

The GOT star replied “okay,” unaware as to what rumours would come her way.

The host asked: “Fact or fiction, Game of Thrones writers would prank the cast by writing fake scripts involving their deaths and then sometimes let the joke play out for weeks before coming clean?”

Maisie then recalled the time actor Alfie was told he’d be bowing out of the series at the hands of Isaac’s character.

The actor replied: “Yeah, that’s true, they did that.

“I think they told Alfie Allen that he was killed by Bran in like a really anticlimactic way,

“But then they didn’t tell Isaac they were doing the joke so when he text Isaac like ‘it’s cool about that,’ Isaac was like ‘I don’t know what you’re talking about,’ and it all (came out).”

It wasn’t the first time the writers’ pranks wreaked havoc on-set as Maisie also opened up about a joke which took Jon Snow actor Kit Harington by surprise.

“They did another one to Kit Harington where they said he got really aggressively mauled on the face,” she began.

“And he was going to have a huge disfigurement on his beautiful, chiselled jaw and that one was quite funny [laughs].”

Luckily for both Alfie and Kit, neither of the pranks actually made it to screens.

Instead, while Theon was impaled by the Night King, Jon Snow managed to make it to the end of the series alive against all odds.

Big Bang Theory: Fans ‘solve’ who told Howard truth about father’s letter – here’s how

We will use your email address only for sending you newsletters. Please see our Privacy Notice for details of your data protection rights.

In a pivotal episode of the CBS series’ sixth season, Howard Wolowitz (played by Simon Helberg) finds a letter from his estranged father. Over the course of the episode, The Big Bang Theory cast reveal different possibilities for the letter’s contents. Now, years later, the truth of the letter may have finally been revealed.

In season six episode 19, The Closet Reconfiguration, Howard and Bernadette (Melissa Rauch) are tidying up his filthy wardrobe before the gang come over for dinner.

Sheldon (Jim Parsons) arrives early, upsetting dinner plans by bringing his own takeaway food but nevertheless providing help for the couple when he agrees to help sort through Howard’s clothes.

During his deep cleaning session, Sheldon discovers an old letter from Howard’s father.

The appearance of Howard’s parents remains a mystery on the series, as his mother appears through her voice only and Sam Wolowitz, his father, never appears.

Sam abandoned Howard’s mother when he was just 11-years-old, and he is understandably anxious upon being presented the letter by Sheldon, who secretly reads a few passages.

Instead of reading it, Howard decides to do something he should have done a long time ago and burns the letter before throwing it in the sink.

However, when Penny (Kaley Cuoco) and Leonard (Johnny Galecki) host a cocktail party, Howard becomes increasingly anxious about the letter’s contents.

In order to calm his nerves, Sheldon decides to share what he read with the gang so they can all give their own versions of what the letter could have contained.

This way, a part of Howard will suspect what his father wanted to say to him, though the true contents of the letter will always remain a mystery.

Some of the gang’s hypothetical letters are rather straightforward, such as Raj (Kunal Nayyar), who claims it was a birthday card, and Bernadette, who tells Howard the letter contained a photo of him as a child.

Although the scene is slightly derailed when Sheldon channel’s The Goonies and tries to convince Howard the letter contained a map to hidden pirate treasure.

However, some fans have returned to the episode and combed through how the scene is staged to propose a definitive answer for the letter conundrum.

One fan took to a recent Reddit discussion to propose it was actually Amy Farrah Fowler (Mayim Bialik) who provides the real contents of the letter.

Redditor jmt2589 posted: “I read somewhere that it was Amy because she’s the only one who was seated that stood up when it was her turn.”

A cursory look back at The Closet Reconfiguration does reveal Amy stands up when delivering the letter’s potential contents, giving her lines some more significance and possibly giving Howard a clue for his father’s real message.

In the episode she said: “You didn’t know it, but your father was in the auditorium at your high school graduation. And he cried because he was so proud of you.”

Given Sheldon is quick to cover up this version as complete ‘poppycock’ after Howard’s startled response, he may have known Amy was telling the truth all along.

Other fans have also pointed out Bernadette fighting back tears when she gives her account, while more viewers suggested the letter could have been a combination of all of them (except the treasure map).

Even though fans may not ever know the true answer behind Howard’s letter, this fan theory may be the most convincing solution presented so far.

The Masked Singer on FOX: Kitty star hits out at costume flaw ‘It was frustrating!’

We will use your email address only for sending you newsletters. Please see our Privacy Notice for details of your data protection rights.

Season three of the top secret talent show caused a storm on Twitter when many fans thought the wrong costumed contestant went home with the grand prize. The Masked Singer will return to Fox with its anticipated fourth season soon, but this year’s slate of celebrities have been speaking out about the show’s challenges in the meantime.

Never miss a royal update again by signing up to the Daily Express Royal Family newsletter

Many viewers were shocked when the Kitty was sent home and revealed as young classical singer Jackie Evancho in Week 13 of The Masked Singer.

Her stellar performance of Amy Winehouse’s Back to Black failed to win over the audience, and Jackie missed out on her chance to compete amongst the final three.

The singer’s elimination was just one of several upsets throughout this year’s outing of the celebrity talent show, as many felt performers like Jackie and the Turtle’s Jesse McCartney were more deserving of season three’s top prize.

Season three eventually unveiled its winner, the Night Angel, and unmasked Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kandi Burruss as the purple-clad diva.

Jackie Evancho will nevertheless be remembered as a highlight of the series thanks to her performances of Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend and Mama’s Broken Heart demonstrating her powerful vocals.

After she was sent home, Jackie sat down with Entertainment Weekly to discuss the highs and lows of performance in head-to-toe cat fur for The Masked Singer.

During the interview, she revealed the unwieldy costume may have hampered some of her on-stage performances.

Jackie said: “It was very heavy and it was also really frustrating. I worried about being close to Nick Cannon on stage. I didn’t want to hit him with my feathers.”

Comedian Nick Cannon returned to presenting duties this year, and occasionally had trouble lifting the heavy masks off the costume-clad celebrities.

The costumes are intended to be as cryptic as possible, though this interview with Jackie suggested the series’ costume designers may have gone overboard this time round.

She continued: “It’s frustrating because you already have this crazy adrenaline going, and then you feel all that heat. I think it just kind of intensifies everything. And then you can start panicking.

“But luckily we went through a bit of training to test out the mask, to see how it feels while you go through your routines.”

Thanks to the series’ combination of elaborate costumes and cryptic clue videos, some of the celebrity singers were difficult to identify in the US iteration of the show’s third outing.

Jackie Evancho revealed she was very flattered when a popular theory speculated the Kitty could actually be Disney star Vanessa Hudgens.

EW asked: “Guesses about your identity were all over the board. What was your favourite?”

To which she responded: “It would probably have to be Vanessa Hudgens because I really admire her and think her showmanship is amazing.

Despite this, the series also received some criticism for featuring celebrities who were far too easy to guess, such as rapper Bow Wow who was heavily tipped to be under the Frog mask.

The celebrity pedigree is only set to improve in season four, so fans are looking forward to yet another round of cryptic clues and crazy theories coming soon.

The Masked Singer is hoped to return to Fox in Autumn 2020.

Coronation Street spoilers: Tim Metcalfe and Faye join forces in ultimate Geoff betrayal

We will use your email address only for sending you newsletters. Please see our Privacy Notice for details of your data protection rights.

Coronation Street fans are going to have to wait until the end of the year to see Yasmeen Nazir (played by Shelley King) get the justice she deserves after a year of abuse at the hands of her husband Geoff Metcalfe (Ian Bartholomew). At the moment, Geoff’s freedom relies on one person believing him – his son Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine). But in upcoming scenes, and with the help of his daughter Faye Windass (Ellie Leach), Tim could find himself turning on his father as the truth is exposed.

Yasmeen found herself denied bail earlier this month after a judge ruled her distressing 999 call as evidence she could possibly flee.

Between now and the trial, Imran Habeeb (Charlie De Melo) is trying to do everything he can to gather a defence and convince Yasmeen to speak out about what she has endured.

Ever since Yasmeen met Geoff, she has been experiencing coercive control and manipulation, which has gradually gotten worse.

From initially being “love-bombed”, to taking control over her personal finances and then Speed Daal, Geoff has also changed the way Yasmeen dresses, decides how long she can go out for and the time she spends with her friends.

He has convinced Yasmeen these decisions are just his way of caring for and loving her, but little does she know the extent of his dark emotional abuse which makes her a victim.

While Yasmeen is currently suffering in a prison cell, Geoff is making himself at home back in Weatherfield after being discharged from the hospital.

But it isn’t long before he remembers he needs to clear the footage from the camera in their house which captured Yasmeen’s attack.

Viewers of the ITV soap will remember how Geoff had dragged Yasmeen off to the Rovers Return for a few drinks before heading to the Bistro to try the wedding menu for Tim and Sally Metcalfe’s (Sally Dynevor) big day.

After ordering her to change and put on a red satin ball gown, Yasmeen and Geoff didn’t spend long in the pub after he kicked up a fuss and blamed it on her.

Having missed out on dinner, he got chips from the kebab shop, but the evening turned sour when Geoff started goading his wife.

Thinking her life was in danger, Yasmeen lashed out in self-defence, hitting Geoff around the head with a wine bottle.

The force caused the bottle to break and when Geoff lunged at Yasmeen, she jutted the jagged edge towards him and stabbed him in the neck.

Scenes saw him slump to the floor and gasp for air, and after initially standing there dumbfound, Yasmeen rang the police.

But when he settles down on the kitchen table with the laptop in front of him, he is interrupted by Tim walking in.

Official spoiler pictures have shown Tim looking very concerned, while Geoff looks panicked.

But with so many people on the cobbles doubting Yasmeen’s behaviour, will Tim, armed with this footage now turn on his father?

Jeffrey Epstein island: Where is Little Saint James?

We will use your email address only for sending you newsletters. Please see our Privacy Notice for details of your data protection rights.

Netflix dropped its four-part documentary series Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich which explores the allegations of sexual abuse and trafficking against the millionaire. Filthy Rich features interviews from accusers such as Virginia Roberts Giuffre as well as individuals who have never come forward before. The convicted paedophile was found dead in his jail cell in New York as he faced a federal trial for sex trafficking last year.

Where is Jeffrey Epstein’s island Little Saint James?

The island is officially called Little Saint James and is located off the coast of St Thomas in the Caribbean Sea, east of Puerto Rico.

Little Saint James lies in between the two largest Virgin Islands of St Thomas and St John.

Little Saint James is part of the US Virgin Islands and the about 74 acres of land.

According to AP, the island was given the sinister moniker “Paedophile Island” by the locals.

Kevin Goodrich, who is from St Thomas and runs boat charters, told the publication: “Everybody called it ‘Pedophile Island’.” He added: “It’s our dark corner.”

Jeffrey Epstein named Little Saint James as his primary residence before his death in 2019.

The banker had purchased the property back in 1998 for an estimated £7.1 million ($7.95 million), according to the Metro.

He transformed it into paradise and built a mansion on the island, which also had a helipad, a cinema, bathhouse and library.

There was also a mysterious building resembling a religious temple, which was blue and white striped with a golden dome on it and flanked with statues.

The temple is thought to have been built in between 2009 and 2013 after the billionaire pleaded guilty to soliciting and procuring a minor for prostitution in 2008.

This building has been the source of speculation with many questioning whether it was used by Epstein to commit his crimes.

Speaking to Business Insider in 2019, Chicago-based contractor and engineer James Both shared his professional opinion on the property.

He said of the temple-like structure: “It’s styled like what you might see on a castle, with what appears to be a reinforcing lock bar across the face.

“What makes it peculiar is that if you wanted to keep people out, the bar would be placed inside the building, [but the] locking bar appears to be placed on the outside … as if it were intended to lock people in.”

The island is only accessible by helicopter or aeroplane and Epstein is said to have often used his private jet to take guests to his home.

Along with the Epstein’s parties, the property was also used to host conferences.

Workers at the property had to sign non-disclosure agreements.

However, a former member of staff told the SF Gate how Epstein would visit the island two or three times a month and would spend a handful of days at a time there.

Another former staffer, who didn’t want to be identified, told AP: “When he was there, it was keep to yourself and do your thing.”

The man said he’d seen several women at Epstein’s property but believed they were over the age of 18.

Coronation Street fans were left devastated when Oliver Battersby’s (played by Emmanuel and Jeremiah Cheetham) diagnosis was revealed as Mitochondrial disorder following several seizures which saw him hospitalised. His parents Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) and Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) are coming to terms with this news and learning everything they can in a bid to ensure their son has a happy and healthy future. Naturally, Leanne is determined to put Oliver first, but in doing so, her marriage could be under threat.

In scenes airing this week, Steve and Leanne will sit down with the medical expert to discuss the extent of Oliver’s illness.

Doctors initially said Oliver was suffering from a febrile convulsion, but further tests will reveal the young child was suffering from a rare disorder.

But what damage will this do to the little boy’s body?

The ITV soap confirmed the extent to which Oliver’s health could deteriorate; a person with Mitochondrial disorder could experience seizures, fatigue, vision and hearing loss, cognitive disabilities, respiratory problems or poor growth.

Any of the body’s organs and systems can be affected including the brain, heart, lungs, gut, liver and skin.

This is something Leanne and Simon are going to face up to because the doctor will warn it’s too soon to be sure, but Oliver may have suffered brain damage after his latest seizure.

Leanne will refuse to believe it, adamant Oliver will make a full recovery but Steve is more realistic.

Determined to be Oliver’s main care provider, Leanne is going to do everything she can to try and protect him and nurture him, but in doing so she will begin to neglect her marriage.

In upcoming scenes, Leanne is going to try and do everything herself, refusing help from anyone.

Fans of Coronation Street will see Leanne arrive home with Oliver next week, and Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) will be by her side.

But when her husband offers his assistance, Leanne snaps and tells Nick she can cope.

While he understands Leanne’s need to be there for her son, Nick feels pushed away.

This could be the start of something much bigger between Nick and Leanne.

The pair have had a lot of history, they began dating in late 1997 and as teenagers they ran away and got married a year later.

After several tumultuous situations, Nick (formerly played by Adam Rickitt) moved to Canada alone in 1999 and returned in 2002 when he started dating Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) and together they left for Canada.

But when she returned, Nick followed her back to Weatherfield, but their relationship was thrown into chaos when Leanne made a comeback in 2004.

When Nick (Ben Price) returned in 2009, Leanne was in a relationship with Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne), but this didn’t stop them going into business together.

In 2010, they started an affair, but the tram crash saw Leanne marry Peter on his deathbed – only for him to survive.

When a marriage blessing was planned a year later, Leanne and Nick’s affair was exposed and Peter demanded a divorce.

The following year, Nick and Leanne planned a Christmas Day wedding, but it was called off when Leanne’s secret conversation with Peter was revealed.

After sleeping with brother David Platt’s (Jack P. Shepherd) wife Kylie (Paula Lane), Leanne planned to leave but Nick begged her to stay and they eventually married in January 2013.

Paternity drama caused them to split and Leanne started dating Kal Nazir (Jimi Mistry) who died, while Nick married Carla Connor (Alison King).

But that marriage didn’t work after she slept with Robert Preston (Tristan Gemmill), and Leanne was there to help Nick.

After he confessed his love, she responded by having a one-night stand with Steve in June 2016, which saw her fall pregnant with Oliver.

In an attempt to sort out the drama, Nick, Steve, Peter, Leanne and Toyah Battersby went to the beach but Nick ended up getting stuck in the quicksand.

Although he was rescued, Nick decided Leanne deserved better and left, but when Leanne was involved in a car crash in October 2018, Nick was listed as her emergency contact and turned up at the hospital.

He stayed by her bedside and eventually won her back, but it seems their relationship is so rocky, Oliver’s illness could throw them apart once again.

Feeling as if Leanne doesn’t need him anymore, will Nick decide to step away and allow Leanne to care for Oliver by herself?

Coronation Street airs weekdays at Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7.30pm on ITV.
