ABC’s New Bachelorette Is Clare Crawley’s and Her Ex-Fiancé Has Thoughts

Clare Crawley was just announced as ABC’s new Bachelorette, and if you have literally no idea who she is, please head here to refresh your memory. TL;DR though? Clare competed on Juan Pablo Galavis’ season of The Bachelor, was on two seasons of Bachelor in Paradise, and—most importantly—competed on Bachelor Winter Games where she straight-up GOT ENGAGED. Clare fell for Benoît Beauséjour-Savard, who popped the question on TV. Behold:

Obviously, the engagement didn’t work out, but now Benoît is out here in his feelings about Clare being Bachelorette—and he couldn’t be happier for her. “Congratulations to this gem!!” Benoît wrote on Instagram. “She will be an amazing Bachelorette. She is smart, fun, strong, knows what she wants, and most importantly, she will call out the guys messing around!! Hell yeah!! Good Luck on your journey to find love @clarecrawley !! You will be the best.”

FYI, Clare and Benoît broke up in April 2018, writing a joint statement on Instagram that read: “It’s with a heavy heart that we have mutually decided to end our relationship. We think the world of each other, and we were both hoping we could make this work.”

We understand A lot of you have been asking about relationship since the show, and we wanted to thank you all for the love and respect as we navigated it in real life off camera. We do understand however, having a public engagement on TV kind of changes that. It's with a heavy heart that we have mutually decided to end our relationship. We think the world of eachother, and we were both hoping we could make this work. I'm sorry that this may not be what you want to hear, but it's our truth. Just know there are no negative feelings here, we are simply two people who believed in love, and were open enough to give it a chance. We still care for each other very deeply (That is why no hate or disrespectful comments will be tolerated about the other.) Please respect our privacy as well, as with the end of any relationship, it is never easy. Thank you for your understanding and love while we have shared our vulnerability with the world. ❤️ Clare & Benoît
