Andrea McLean says becoming a life coach was real reason she left Loose Women

Andrea McLean has finally opened up about the real reason she left Loose Women.

The mum-of-two, 51, quit the ITV panel show in November 2020, leaving fans in shock.

It was revealed she had given in her resignation with a bombshell email, telling the Sunday Mirror’s Notebook magazine: "I emailed my bosses. I just said I needed to follow my heart.

"I was sat in the car. I had it all written and ready to go," she said.

And she’s finally admitted the real reason why – she’s just completed her training to become a qualified life coach.

She’s joining her husband Nick Feeney in her new endeavour, and says the lovebirds have both been training over the past few months over Zoom.

"I quit my job to do something I’m really passionate about, which is helping women change their mindsets so they can feel better about themselves," she told HELLO! magazine.

"We’ve just about finished [the training]. We’ll officially be accredited Life Coaches. It’s really great."

She added: "There’s this big thing of imposter syndrome, of ‘Who am I to do this?’ I’m from an age of ‘But you haven’t been to school to learn this!’ so we’ve been training for the past few months over Zoom."

Andrea has been putting on Zoom memberships for her community, along with providing masterclasses with scientific and psychological experts.

She says plenty of women have followed in her footsteps and quit their own jobs to take a "leap into the unknown", having been given "tools and encouragement" from Andrea as their life coach.

But that isn’t the only project she has in the works – she’s also in the middle of writing her fourth book, and is heading up HELLO!’s new digital video series High Street Hits, which provides some fashion inspiration and aims to get people back to supporting businesses.

Andrea told the publication that she’s still in touch with plenty of her fellow Loose Women, and has met up with Saira Khan and spoken to both Brenda Edwards and Linda Robson on the phone.

The brunette beauty said she was "nervous-cited" – a blend of nervous and excited – about her own leap into the unknown as she quit the ITV programme, but she’s since hit the ground running.

But quitting wasn’t without its own risks, as she feared she’d have to "sell her house".

Speaking on Natalie Anderson’s podcast The Capsule in Conversation, Andrea admitted that she and her husband sat down and said: "What’s the worst thing that can happen? Right, I never earn a penny. We’ll have to sell the house. We may have to sell the children, maybe the dog!"

But it looks like Andrea's definitely making a success of her new endeavour.
