Daisy (played by Charlotte Jordan) has made a name for herself as a mischievous minx following her arrival on Coronation Street last year. Not only has she become a businesswoman for a company who sell products through unconventional means but she has also interfered in her step-mother Jenny’s (Sally Ann Matthew) marriage to Johnny Connor (Richard Hawley). However, when the couple decide to call it quits in upcoming scenes on the ITV soap, the troublemaker could find herself making an exit from the show as Jenny fails to be manipulated by her step-daughter any longer.
In recent scenes, Jenny confessed to her husband she had slept with Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan) behind his back when he was in prison.
Daisy found this out before the Rovers Return landlord’s return and used it as leverage to blackmail her step-mother’s lover to aid her own business venture.
Unfortunately for her, she was caught out and when Jenny threatened to throw her out, she gave her a sob story about feeling neglected by her father.
The landlady fell hook, line and sinker for her step-daughter’s tales but with her marriage on the brinks of destruction, she could turn her anger towards Daisy.
Although she feels sorry for her youngster, Jenny might feel the young woman is somewhat responsible for the heartbreak she is going through.
Although it was Sharon Bentley (Tracie Bennett) who forced her to tell Johnny the truth, the pub landlady could get revenge on Daisy when the Rovers is put up for sale.
Knowing the youngster will have nowhere to stay, Daisy’s step-mother could tell her to leave Weatherfield for good as she won’t be welcome to live with her.
With no one else to turn to on the cobbles, the youngster could end up making a temporary exit as she walks away from the cobbles to devise her own revenge plan against Jenny.
Just how long could she be away from the street though and what will she have in mind if she returns to ruin her step-mother’s life once and for all?
Teasing this direction for the character, at the actress who plays Daisy, Charlotte Jordan, spoke with press, including Express.co.uk.
I don’t really know!
Charlotte explained of what the future looks like for her alter-ego: “I’ve had discussions with script editors, storyliners and producers because and I think that’s still quite up in the air.
“I think they’re still deciding just how dark can we make her. So the honest answer is I don’t really know!
“I’m trying to leave options when I’m working for her to be more humane, and I’m trying to leave options for her to maybe be totally psychotic.
“So I don’t really know at the moment. Right now she’s a bit of a troublemaker, she’s a bit minxy and she’s got a bit of a backstory behind it.
“I’m getting to play all sides of the spectrum, which is lovely,” she added but could this be a hint of Daisy becoming a woman scorned thanks to Jenny’s neglect?
Having been a character on the weeknight serial drama for six months, Charlotte also touched upon just how long viewers will be seeing her on-screen.
“I’ve been acting for five years now. You start with anything you can get hold of, so I just did guesting parts – little bits here, little bits there.
“Corrie came straight out of lockdown, so I’ve not really done a great deal beforehand. But it’s brilliant working on a soap.
“I find it really interesting working on something that’s not got a beginning, middle and an end. That’s something that is new.
“They picked up my second option, yes, so I’m definitely around until September hopefully and then who knows.”
“I’ve moved up here to Manchester now, just in time for it to start kicking off for Daisy. It’s amazing,” she continued.
With some uncertainty of a long-term future for Daisy, will viewers be saying goodbye to her this Autumn as the fallout from Jenny’s split from Johnny concludes?
If she does stick around for a little longer, it seems she could have a big project on her hands as latest spoilers have indicated she could be eyeing up a new venture.
With Johnny putting the pub up for sale in upcoming scenes, many will be left wondering who will be the new owner.
Known for her devious ways, Daisy could become the youngest landlady the establishment has ever had as she plots away.
Next week, Daisy will get to work by throwing off potential buyers so she and Jenny can buy the pub for themselves.
When Johnny was inside, the Rovers became Jenny’s safe haven and she managed to keep it running through the pandemic.
She could go along with her step-daughter’s plans to buy the pub but only to double cross her at the last minute.
In a bitter act of revenge, Jenny could state she has enough funds to purchase the deeds by herself with no help from Daisy.
Will this be another reason the troublemaker could make an exit?
Coronation Street continues Monday at 7:30pm on ITV.
