George Shuttleworth (played by Tony Maudsley) is set to arrive in Weatherfield tonight, and will immediately hit it off with not just one, but two Coronation Street favourites. Mary Taylor (Patti Clare) will flirt with the newcomer, but it will quickly become clear he has his eyes set on Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver). However, it seems her luck isn’t about to change and she could even end up dead after the new star spoke to Lorraine on her self-titled show this morning.
“I know that the character George is hopefully going to woo,” Lorraine began.
“Because poor old Eileen, she has had such bad luck with men and it would be lovely to actually see her with somebody decent for once.”
Tony explained: “She needs someone to spoil her.
“Someone to come round with a box of soft centres and make her smile for once.
“So the one thing about George is that I know he’s not a murderer so we are safe on that front,” the star added.
But, he was quickly interrupted by Lorraine who said: “Well, you think that.
“You don’t know. This is Corrie, anything could happen.
“But there is some talk of a love triangle with Eileen and Mary.
“Now, that’s two women you don’t want to get on the bad side of I would have thought,” Lorraine added.
“You really don’t,” Tony added, “The thing is about George, he is a really nice, affable guy.
“And he’s not going to want to hurt anybody.
“But, given all these romances, he’s not going to have time to bury anyone is he?” the actor laughed.

He could be double bluffing Coronation Street fans though.
If he came looking for a victim, he would more than likely be able to pull the wool over Eileen’s eyes.
Eileen might be a romantic at heart, but she is terrible at picking them.
If he could get under her skin, he might just be looking for someone to pass the time.
Whether he could actually go as far as to hurt her though will have fans nervous for Eileen.
It might not be George she needs to look out for.
If Mary really thinks George could be the one for her, there is no telling the war it would create between the two women.
Mary could send a threat towards Eileen telling her to back off from George but maybe, this will just pique her interest more.
Is this George’s secret plan all along?
Coronation Street airs on ITV Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm.
