Professional skater and Dancing on Ice judge Christopher Dean left a number of viewers rather confused during Sunday night's final (March 27), as he seemed to insinuate that actor Dick Van Dyke had passed away.

The judge was certainly blown away after Regan Gascoigne performed to the song Step In Time which was originally danced by Dick in the iconic musical Mary Poppins.

When Christopher gave his feedback on Regan's show-stopping routine, he told him how proud Dick "would have been" of his interpretation.

Chris said: You were magic out there, just fantastic. I don't have enough words to say how good that was.

He added: "You shun in thatyou looked like you were one of the professional skaters and you know who would have been proud of that Mr Dick Van Dyke himself."

Fans at home were left confused and rushed to Twitter to remind Chris that Dick is still alive and well.

Hearing the judge's comments, one person penned: "Dick van Dyke is very much still alive, in case anyone was confused."

Another fan questioned: "Dick Van Dyke is very much still alive, so why's Chris talking like Reagan's performance was somehow a tribute to him saying how proud he 'Would of been?'"

A third chimed: "Wow wow wow come on chris dont talk for dick van dyke."

Meanwhile a fourth added: "Dick Van Dyke is very much alive at the grand age of 96 Chris."

Regan opened the show with his fabulous routine that left many amazed.

Dressed as a chimney sweeper, the dancer put on a spectacular show alongside his dance partner Karina Manta.

As well as scoring the perfect score of 40, fans couldn't wait to express their thoughts on Regan and his spectacular dance online.

Showing their support to the young performer, a social media user wrote: "Yes all three are professional dancers, yes they all have the dance moves, but to me regan just has the edge when it comes to skating skills."

Another shared: "The opening routine from Regan and Karina was beyond breathtaking!! I felt like I was at the theatre watching a full performance!!"

A third impressed viewer said: "Regan’s first routine put a massive smile on in my heart. Kimberley’s bought tears to my eyes. Brendan’s was meh, stumbled a few times and still got 40?!"
