Emmerdale fans may be wondering where it is they've seen new arrival, Suzy Merton, who appeared on Monday (April 4) before.
The character – played by Martelle Edinborough – has arrived in the dales as a potential love interest for Vanessa Woodfield after they quite literally accidentally bumped into each other in a previous episode.
Vanessa and Suzy initially met last week when they got into a heated argument after Vanessa accidentally knocked the cake Suzy was carrying out of her hands and onto the floor.
Viewers saw sparks flying between the pair in Monday's episode and Vanessa is set to nab herself a date with Suzy this week.
Eagle-eyed soap fans will recognise Martelle from another hit ITV soap – Coronation Street.
The actress has in fact had numerous roles in the Weatherfield based drama over the years including between 2018-2021 where she played a court clerk, talent scout Jasmine Ridgeway who tried to sign up Kirk Sutherland, and police family liaison officer Alison Wray after Seb Franklin's murder.
Martelle has also briefly appeared in Emmerdale in the past, playing the role of a doctor in the soap in 2018.
The star has now landed a bigger role and has talked about her excitement at being part of the cast.
She said: "I think Suzy is pleasantly surprised with Vanessa, she’s got something about her that Suzy likes and she’s not quite sure what as yet. But there is definitely an attraction there. So there is potential for something romantic."
Businesswoman Suzy is described as confident and fun and is set to make her mark in The Dales.
Martelle added: "She’s confident and gregarious and fun to be around. She doesn’t take any nonsense at the same time and she likes to get what she wants. She’s a really fun character to play so I’m looking forward to all the different stuff that’s coming up for her."
But fans think she could be up to something, after catching Suzy in a 'lie'.
Predicting she and Vanessa won't work out, one fan penned online: "Suzy will be a good match against C in the same way Moira stands up to her. What is clear is: that V&S isn't going to last!
"Suzy said twice she lies sometimes, now that maybe just be playful banter but we know Ness hates being lied to! This will be their undoing."
