Matt Lucas confirmed as new Great British Bake Off host after Sandi Toksvig quits
Matt Lucas will replace Sandi Toksvig on The Great British Bake Off, it has been confirmed.
The 46 year old will join Noel Fielding, also 46, in the tent when the show returns to Channel 4 later this year.
Starring alongside his new co-host in a video to announce his participation, Matt says: "If my mum came along, she would just follow me around going 'Matt don't eat that!, Matt don't, I'm serious. Don't'."
Practising his hosting skills, he then says: "The judges want you to make twenty four yeasted festival buns."

Noel continues: "You have three hours," as they back and forth with Matt saying: "On your marks," Noel adding: "Get set," and Matt finishing: "Bake!"
The pair then fall apart in fits of laughter, with Noel saying to camera: "That was the moment."
Matt hilariously adds: "I have a lot of work to do," in the video posted to Bake Off's 665,000 followers.
Sandi announced she would be quitting the hit show after three years in January.
The 61 year old joined the show in 2017 when the show moved from BBC One to Channel 4, but will now "focus on other projects."
She said in a statement: "When stepping down from a job it is quite common for people to say they are doing so in order to spend more time with their family.
"Unusually I am departing from the Great British Bake Off so I can spend more time with my other work.
"As my waistline will testify, Bake Off is an all-consuming show. Spending time with Prue, Paul and Noel has been one of the great pleasures of my life.
"These are friendships which I know will continue beyond the confines of television.
"Bake Off is a wonderful programme which has already proved it can happily withstand a change of hosting personnel.
"The reason for that, of course, is that the true stars of the show are the bakers themselves. I wish everyone well."

Channel 4 added that she will stay within the channel's family, hosting a new show about issues within adult literacy named The Write Offs.
On Tuesday night, Sandi's final series of the show — a celebrity version in support of Stand Up 2 Cancer — aired with documentary maker Louis Theroux, comedians Russell Howard and Jenny Eclair, and Love Island star Ovie Soko stepping into the tent.
Jenny was crowned the first Star Baker of the series, which helps raise money for research into cancer.
