The hit Netflix drama follows a group of teenagers as they hunt for mysterious treasure linked to a family member. Along the way, the group face trials and tribulations but still pursue romantic relationships. JJ star Rudy Pankow recently hinted towards a budding romance between his character and Kiara (played by Madison Bailey) in season three of Outer Banks.
In season one, viewers learn about the class divide in the Northern California town.
Depending on whether they grew up in the Pogues or the Kooks their lives would differ greatly.
John B previously (Chase Stokes) described the town as “The sort of place where you either have two jobs or two houses.”
The Kooks lived on the northern side of town. Often referred to as Figure eight, they were an elite group of people who got away with heinous crimes and had the most power in the town.
Whereas the Pogues resided in the south and worked jobs that would cater to the rich, such as waitressing or cleaning boats.
They were looked down on by the Kooks for being working class, although they work hard in an attempt to better their lives.
With the teens focused on the mission they initially instilled a no romance rule in their Pogue group.
However, John B and Sarah Cameron (Madelyn Cline) were involved in a whirlwind romance by the end of season one, so that rule went out the window.
Elsewhere in the friendship group Pope Heyward (Johnathan Daviss) admitted he “had a thing” for Kiara and made his move.
After sharing a kiss, the two ultimately decided to stay friends as their personalities would often clash.
With JJ also confessing that he’d taken a liking to Kiara, he was yet to pursue her in hopes of sparking a romance.
In a recent interview, JJ star Rudy Pankow recently spoke to US Weekly and may have hinted towards a relationship with Kiara in season three.
When asked about his characters potential love interest the actor responded: “I leave the future up to the writers and the writers take care of me from there on out.
“Season two is a great season and I don’t think it only focuses on relationships it’s like a back story that everybody likes.”
The actor admitted the Pogues would have “to start” talking about “what is the end goal” and objectives if the show would get renewed for season three.
Rudy was asked if his character got involved with Kiara if that would affect his friendship with Pope.
He revealed: “Yes, I think there’s a talk with Pope, there’s a talk with Kie, like, ‘What exactly is going on? I’m your friend too.’
Rudy disclosed: “I think he might be feeling a little left out, like, ‘What’s going on here?’ I think what’s happening in season 2 is JJ is really focused on the safety of things and also restitution.”
“So yeah, like I think there’s a lot of other factors that are going on with JJ,” he added “I think there will be a time a place to have that talk but it’s just not yet, because there are so many other things that he’s dealing with.”
Outer Bank seasons 1-2 are available to stream on Netflix.
