Pete Wicks reveals real reason he quit TOWIE amid co-star feud

Former The Only Way is Essex star Pete Wicks has revealed the reason why he decided to leave the show as rumours circle about a feud with his co-stars.

The 35 year old was a part of the ITV show from 2015 until 2021 but since he left the show, speculation has been mounting as to why he decided to call it a day.

However, he has now said that he was desperate to not become the "Ian Beale of TOWIE" as he referred to the long standing EastEnders character.

The comparison comes after some of his popular former co-stars accused him of "disrespecting the show that made him".

Pete appeared on the Not My Bagg podcast hosted by Joe Baggs and was asked: "Do you miss being on Towie?"

He quickly replied to the question saying: "No, I don't miss it. I've never watched it and I never watched it before I did it, I never watched it when I did it, I've never watched anything I've done on TV."

He added: "I'd been on it for quite a long time and I owe the show quite a lot. The show was good for me for a lot of stuff that I do now.

"I was starting to become the Ian Beale of TOWIE, just this sort of drunk in the corner, so it was definitely time for me to f****** do one."

He may have thought he was leaving the drama behind as he exited the reality show, but the drama has continued away from TOWIE as his co-stars have slammed Pete and accused him of being "fickle."

The Only Way Is Essex star Chloe Brockett said: "There's no need to slag off a show that's been good to you."

She told The Sun: "I thought Pete was nice when I spoke to him, but he's got different ideas about what he wants to do with his career so good luck to him. There's no need to slag off a show that's been good to you."

Pete has previously discussed his exit on the Saving Grace podcast as he admitted: "I don’t actually get on with all of the cast of the cast. Over the years a lot of people have refused to film with me."

"I am exactly the same off camera to on camera. The majority of them are not. Because they are all fake f***s."
