Ragnarok is a popular fantasy drama series on Netflix and it was inspired by stories from Norse mythology. The TV show made its debut back in January 2020, with season two dropping on May 27, 2021. Express.co.uk has all you need to know about a potential third season.
Will there be a third season of Ragnarok?
Ragnarok season two has just made its debut on Netflix and fans were excited to see the main protagonists return.
The Danish series is set in the fictional town of Edda, which was ruined by industrial pollution caused by factories.
One boy, Magne (played by David Stakston), attempted to put an end to climate change after discovering he was an embodiment of the god, Thor.
Sadly as season two has only just been released, there is no news on season three just yet.
Netflix will review the viewership figures for the second season before making a decision on whether to renew the show.
When will Ragnarok season 3 be released?
If Ragnarok is given the green light for season three, it could air as early as May 2022.
Season one aired in January and season two dropped in May, so there is no particular pattern when it comes to release dates.
The coronavirus pandemic has put a strain on TV production, but with restrictions beginning to ease, the series could appear sooner than fans think.
Hopefully, more information will come to light in the upcoming weeks.
The ending of Ragnarok season two paves the way for the story to continue.
Who will be in the cast of Ragnarok season 3?
David Stakston is likely to return as Magne Seier, who discovers he is a reincarnation of the god of thunder.
Other cast members include Jonas Strand Gravli as Laurits Seier, Herman Tømmeraas as Fjor, Theresa Frostad Eggesbø as Saxa and Emma Bones as Gry.
Some guest stars have also appeared, so there is a high chance some new characters could be added in season three.
Fans have already taken to Twitter to express their excitement over a new season, with one saying: “YES I binged season 2 of #Ragnarok today & YES I absolutely need a season 3 thank youuuu #Netflix.” [Sic]
Another said: “Ragnarok season 2 kicked off on @netflix………. definitely watching that the next few days.” [Sic]
What will happen in Ragnarok season 3?
Fans were left on the edge of their seats after Magne lost his powers early on in season two.
He and his friends had to forge Thor’s iconic hammer in order to be in with a winning chance.
Magne struggled to wield the hammer at first, but he was eventually able to regain his powers.
Season two ended with Laurits setting his young Jörmungandr snake out into the fjords.
Meanwhile, the Jutul family knew they had a fresh fight on their hands.
Season three is likely to pick up immediately after the events of the season two finale.
Fans continued to share their thoughts on the latest season, with one saying: “Loved #Ragnarok hope to get season 3 soon.”
With season two gearing fans up for another showdown, they can only hope an update is announced soon.
Another fan said: “Going to spend the entire day watching the newest season of Ragnarok!!! self-care.” [Sic]
“Okay I binged so now season 3 please and thank you #Ragnarok” were the words of another viewer.
