Yasmeen Nazir (Shelley King) took drastic action during the latest episode of Coronation Street, as she lashed out at her abuser Geoff Metcalfe (Ian Bartholomew) — leaving him for dead — but the terror she’s endured is far from over, as she faces the consequences for her actions over the next couple of weeks.
In episodes due for broadcast this week, Yasmeen telephones 999 and informs the person on the other end of the call that she’s killed her husband.
As the police arrive, the residents of Weatherfield attempt to work out what’s going on, while a panicked Tim (Joe Duttine) rushes towards his dad’s house, but the police officer prevents him from entering.
Later, Yasmeen is taken to the police station, and there she finds Imran (Charlie de Melo) waiting on her, as Ryan (Ryan Prescott) had informed him of the situation at hand.
Yasmeen sits in her police cell — exhausted and alone — as the police search her home for evidence, unaware of the fact that they’re being filmed by Geoff’s secret cameras.
Later, the police interview Yasmeen, and Imran watches as she is charged.
Yasmeen’s nightmare is far from over, as Coronation Street has revealed that — in the coming episodes — her bail hearing arrives, and Imran represents her.
Yasmeen is supported by her family and friends — including Alya (Sair Khan) and Ryan and Toyah (Georgia Taylor) during the courtroom scenes, but the question is: what will be the outcome?
Will Yasmeen receive bail?
Or will she be put behind bars ahead of a possible trial?
What’s more, is Geoff dead?
Coronation Street continues Monday 4 May at 7pm on ITV.
