This Morning fans call for Eamonn Holmes to return after brutal Phillip Schofield rant
This Morning fans have called for Eamonn Holmes to return to the ITV show, following the departure of Phillip Schofield.
Phillip announced he would be stepping down from the show over the weekend, with his final episode having already aired, amid rumours of a falling out with co-host Holly Willoughby.
And Eamonn, 63, certainly hasn't held back when comes to his former co-stars, launching into a rant about both Phil and Holly during his regular GB News slot.
The TV presenter began: "Oh please just stop this. He was sacked. All this nonsense of 'I've decided to step down'. I’m sure you did – here’s your P45 now step down."
He then went on to discuss Holly's statement about Phillip's departure, in which she wrote that the sofa wouldn't be the same without him.
Eamonn said: "And she says: 'Oh, the couch will not be the same without him being there'. Well she wanted him not there. So what is she moaning about? They deserve each other I suppose.
"Holly is being as false as he is and nobody is talking about the elephant in the room.
"She says 'I thank him for all his knowledge, experience and humour'. All the things that she didn’t have when she came to the show. Well it’s true! I would call that stabbing in the back."
He continued: "I could give you a list of the lack of kindness and lack of awareness from both of them. How they would socialise, and the people around them.
"You just have to look at my phone, full of people who are glad to see the back of the two of them".
Following Phil's exit from the show, fans have taken to social media to call for Eamonn and wife Ruth Langsford to make their returns to the This Morning sofa.
Posting to Twitter, one fan wrote: "It would be so so nice to have Eamonn and Ruth back hosting the show as the main presenters #ThisMorning."
"Monday – Alison & Dermot Tuesday – Alison & Dermot Wednesday- Rylan & Rochelle Thursday- Eamonn & Ruth Friday- Josie & Craig This is what we really need #ThisMorning," suggested another.
While a third argued: "@thismorning needs to bring back @RuthieeL and @EamonnHolmes. Then share this with @Rylan and @therealgokwan when Ruth and Eamonn go on holidays. #thismorning."
Monday's This Morning was presented by Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary, who usually present the show on Fridays, having taken over from Eamonn and Ruth in 2021.
