Vikings season 6B is the second half of the 20-part sixth season which is due to air on History and Prime Video before the end of 2020. At the end of the first half of season six, Ivar the Boneless (played by Alex Høgh Andersen) stabbed his brother Bjorn Ironside (Alexander Ludwig) during the Rus battle. Fans are wondering whether Ivar will switch sides and betray Prince Oleg (Danila Kozlovsky).

Will Ivar switch sides and betray Oleg in Vikings season 6B?

The first half of season six came to an end earlier in 2020 and fans have been waiting many months to find out more about the next set of episodes.

Season six part two will be the last-ever set of episodes, and the saga is due to come to an end before the year is out.

At the end of the first half of season six, Ivar had joined Prince Oleg in an invasion on Scandinavia, and he was seemingly victorious after stabbing Bjorn.

However, a new trailer for season six episode 11 showed Bjorn very much alive, and Ivar was shocked to see him make a comeback.

Hvitserk (Marco Ilsø) has already suggested Bjorn cannot be killed, so fans have suggested he may abandon his plan with Oleg and join his brothers in a surprise attack.

Many fans have taken to Reddit to discuss the possibility of Ivar’s plot twist, as he has always resented his brothers.

PancuterM said: “I don’t know what will [be] the outcome of the invasion of Norway but I have some theories:

“a. The Norwegians defeat the invasion, Ivar backstabs Oleg but he is not welcomed back by the Norwegians because of what he did, so he assembles an army and goes to England.

“b. The Norwegians lose, Ivar backstabs Oleg but the conspiracy against him fails and he exiles himself in order to save his life from Oleg’s men. He eventually gets to England with an army and tries to conquer it.

“c. The Norwegians beat Oleg’s men with the help of Ivar, and they welcome him back. Then Ivar says he wants to go back to England and he does with the help of Harald, Bjorn and others.”

Fans have agreed there will be some level of betrayal in the new episodes, however, it is unclear as two who will be on the receiving end.

Some fans feel Katya (Alicia Agneson), who is seemingly Ivar’s ex Freydis, will try to seduce him again and learn of his plans to overthrow her new husband Oleg.

They have suggested Ivar, Igor (Oran Glynn O’Donovan) and Hvitserk will face danger and will escape to England where they will fight Alfred (Ferdia Walsh-Peelo).

DoY0uKnowWh0Iam said: “Maybe Ivar will come to some sort of truce and agreement with Alfred to help him take back Kattegat from Oleg.

“And he will take back Kattegat after he kills Oleg and Katya and defeats the Rus army, who will surrender to him ..Ivar will give them to Igor to go back in Kiev and rule on his own.”

Actor Andersen has been sharing photos from behind the scenes on his Instagram account, ahead of the season six part two release.

In the photos, he has long hair and a beard, and is covered in blood, which suggests he may survive the Rus battle.

There is an indication fans will see a time jump in the final instalment, so they may learn where Ivar ends up following the battle.

The real Ivar the Boneless was known for invading Anglo-Saxon England and he returned to East Anglia in the year 869.

But he disappears from the historical records the following year, so not much is known about his fate or demise.

Fans have looked closely at the first half of season six and there are signs which suggest Ivar is having reservations about Oleg’s plan.

He helped Oleg’s brother Dir (Lenn Kudrjawizki) escape after his sibling imprisoned him, treating him like a dog.

Ivar also formed a strong bond with Oleg’s nephew Igor, keeping him out of the way of his overly aggressive uncle.

With this in mind, there is every possibility Ivar will realise he is out of his depth and see the error of Oleg’s ways.

Fans are still waiting for an official release date for the second half of season six, but as it has already been filmed it is likely to be before the end of 2020.

The first half of the season started airing in December 2019, so fans can expect the new episodes to be released around the same time.
